Credit card processing back up, thru Stripe

Hi all,

First, apologies for the payments downtime in the past few days. We're still working on sorting out the root cause with our merchant bank (who apparently got acquired and lost some paperwork), but in the meantime we've integrated with Stripe and are able to accept payments again.

The flow will look at a little different than you're used to, because it will redirect you to a Dreamwidth branded Stripe checkout page, but afterwards you'll end up back on DW and the order will be processed like normal.

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions -- this integration was a little rushed, so if there are any rough edges, I'm sorry (and definitely let me know).

Thanks again for your patience while we sorted this out :)

Looks like it's working well; everything went through for me just fine.

Thanks for getting this sorted out! :D

Just tested the payment system for DW points purchase — worked like a charm, and considerably faster than the old system. Suffice it to say I'm glad I don't have to order checks again.

I hear you; I had to search my house for two hours to find my checkbook when we had to pay the contractor who built our new deck, heh.

Yes, Mark also pushed all the code changes that were pending since the last code push while he was getting this working. We don't have a code tour for them yet, but you're probably noticing the ongoing changes to the comment form to try to make it more mobile-friendly.

Yeah, either way we decided it, the people who were used to the other way were going to have to adjust, unfortunately. It's part and parcel of the ongoing mobile improvements: we need to consolidate elements that are repeated in multiple places (like the comment forms) in order to make sure everything gets fixed properly all at once.

I'm experiencing a problem on the form where it won't accept any email I type into the email field. The box highlights in red and continues to tell me "Required". Both the process for buying points and buying paid services does this. I've used multiple gmail accounts, yahoo, a disposable email address. I even tried creating an account on the Stripe website but it didn't help.

This is an entirely different system, so right now, the outstanding payments from when our former processor was refusing payments are still outstanding! I think we may finally have worked out what the problem with them was, so we may be turning them back on for like 3.2 seconds to capture the outstanding previous week or so of payments so people don't have them just hanging around on their cards without being settled, but we're going to try our best to make sure that doesn't involve actually completing the pending charges. (I'm like 94% sure it won't, but there's always that 6%.)

If anything does get charged that shouldn't oughta, we'll email people about refunds.

Hurrah! Thanks for all the hard work and informative updates.

Commenting to see the new form, and to ask: is there a way to get this post sent to my email, so I can put it where I'll find it when it's time to renew my account? Or will there be a post about it in News, which does go to my email?

(Oops, I seem to have clicked More Options instead of Post Comment, after reading all about the change! On _this_ form, Post Comment is still on the left.)

[personal profile] roadrunnertwice 2019-09-27 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, IMO the placement of "more options" is the most dodgy thing about this version! The next version moves it to a place that should make a little more sense and get in the way a little less (screenshot). There'll also be a beta soon that makes the "big" comment form more consistent with the "quick" one.

New bug?

[personal profile] radical_creations 2019-09-28 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello! I've had a dw account for a few years and am just now starting to use it. First, thanks for all your hard work! I hope this is the place to report bugs, if not plmk. I've only started having this problem today. On most of my posts I have:

text
table
- table rows and columns
lines of text

When I scroll down the (text) post editor, it doesn't scroll to the last lines of text. And when I manually arrow down to the last line(s) of text, I lose the editing buttons at the top of the post screen. Scrolling up doesn't bring them back. Going to HTML editing or refreshing the page brings them back but sometimes I run into the same problem. I use a Chromebook.

Other people have had that problem too, but it's in a really old area of code and we're not sure how to fix it right now. Sorry! Try enabling the beta new entry page and see if that helps; it doesn’t have rich text yet, but it’s less buggy.

Sorry if this comes up as a secondary comment. D: I keep trying to access the site and keep coming up with a 504 Gateway Time-out errors. Got one here when trying to comment before, and earlier on when trying to preview edited entries, as well as go through individual entries that were already posted. Not sure if you guys are updating stuff or not, causing it to bug out a bit.

I tried to make my payment earlier on this evening for my paid account (to renew it for the month). It still says that it's processing the payment. Does it usually take a while before it goes through, with this new system?

I appreciate your help! <3
