Code update

Code was just updated. In particular, this update brings the alpha version (first release) of the crossposter tool. This release also brings a change to the way we do adult content to bring it more in line with our goals for the site. More information on the adult content change.

Please keep in mind that this is Closed Beta. As such, we're iterating quickly, and releasing early. There will be bugs, that's a promise.

Please let us know what issues you find so we can fix them up!

Probably more worthy of a coolhunters post, but it seems relevant to this, so - any possibility of being able to cross-post to a filter?

i.e. make a public post here, but the crossposted entry ends up on a filter?

I'm thinking probably not, but it would be very useful if it is possible as I don't want to x-post at the moment to save the annoyance of those who read both my DW and my LJ - but I have some people saying "but now I'll never get to see your posts!" because checking DW themselves for my posts, nor subscribing via RSS, nor tracking my journal quite work for them.

Not urgent, though, I understand - just pitching it in as a It Would Be Very Shiny If... thing for future consideration.

I do notice that it obeys the default posting settings on each site. ie, currently my default setting on DW is public but my default setting on LJ is friends-only, and the crossposter obeyed that.

I'm not sure I want to set my default post setting on LJ to go to the filter, though :/ I'd only forget it was set that way, and end up with loads of entries that only the filter could see without realising it ^^;

Oh, I'm waiting for an answer to your original question too, I have a filter that I don't use all the time but that I post to extensively. I should have said that my suggestion was a short-term fix while waiting for updates to the crossposter :)

(PS while trying to post this comment I got "your login cookie has disappeared" several times before I finally just logged in to DW first and then came back to post the comment. Firefox 3 on Windows 2000)

I agree that this would be very useful!

Right now we don't store information about custom friends filters on other sites. We should be able to get it, though, which would mean that we probably could set up a default filter to use. Would be a little bit of extra DB storage, but that's it.

But, yeah, it's probably on the Nice to Have list rather than the Required list.
