Update on the importer

As you may have noticed, we are experiencing some issues with importing comments from LiveJournal. They made some changes to their code, which broke the way our importer retrieves comments. Mark knows what is wrong, and is working on it. Unfortunately, it's going to be a day or two before it's fixed.

For right now, hold tight and don't retry your import. Once it's fixed, someone will post here and then you can try again. Thank you for your patience!

Is this the reason that the importer uploaded duplicate (and triplicate) entries as well?

Would this be the reason I'm getting reports of successful imports I haven't requested? (I've only had them twice for the same thing when I last imported stuff way back in 2010. And yes, I've got a support ticket open for it...)

Possible! It could also just be a glitch in the system.

I joined DW in the summer of 2011 and attempted to import my LJ stuff then, but it was too massive. A friend suggested I try again, and this time it worked - and I'm tickled pink! Looking forward to being able to bring over all the comments as well.

Thanks. I'm a relative newbie tentatively switching over from LJ, so hitting a glitch first thing was not particularly auspicious. Glad to know it's being worked on.

It can sometimes take a day or so for Support to recognize a pattern and to get it resolved. I know it's frustrating, but we are totally on top of it!

Any connection between this and OpenID problems? I opened a support request because the Social Login plugin on my Wordpress site was unable to log in a Dreamwidth user (i.e., me) via OpenID. I want to make sure that DreamWidth users can log in via OpenID before I move over here from LJ.

Unfortunately, a connection is unlikely. OpenID has always been a little glitchy, but we're looking into it.
