I initially had a couple of 503's while waiting to access my inbox but the problem seems to be resolved now. (Beta inbox is also looking a lot more readable :D )

The 503s are intermittent in the evenings US time -- it usually means that the site is overwhelmed (a sad percentage of our traffic is garbage). The site will auto-scale to add more resources when the servers are overwhelmed, so if you get 503s and it's evening to late night US time, just wait a few minutes and try again!

I've been seeing a minor strangeness for the past week or so (including after last night's code push): every time I try to post anything, it offers me the draft of my previous post as a starting point, even if the previous post went through perfectly. Is this a known bug?

We've been trying to reproduce that for a month and we can't. Can you give your browser and operating system (with version numbers) and the list of extensions you have installed?

If you're looking for the stuff that's in the sidebar on desktop, scroll down. Everything collapses into one column now on mobile screens for readability.

I noticed the "upcoming birthdays" sidebar section on the homepage is missing, though I perused the code push notes and might've missed if that was intentional or not.

I still see it there! It's under the "Reading Page" and above the "Account Stats" modules on the right. If yours is missing, it may be because the account you're logged into doesn't have any people in its circle?

Since the code push, Adguard has decided it doesn't like you as much, based on what I can tell. Each time I try to open anything on Dreamwidth (not my own journal, it's fine with that) in a new tab, the Adguard browser extension (in Firefox) blocks it.

Example of the message:
"Access Denied. This web page at dw-news.dreamwidth.org has been reported as a malware page and has been blocked based on your security preferences."

Clicking on More Information provides me with this page. Not sure how you got blacklisted. Clicking on Advanced instead, I can still proceed to the page, at least.

Thanks! One of our volunteers reported that as well. We've never heard of Adguard and we can't tell what criteria they're using or whether they take into account the fact that we're a UGC site -- they seem to have blocked every single one of our subdomains for absolutely no reason. I would suggest reporting it to them as a false positive.

I just got "Failed to post: Non-authenticated email address: You must confirm your email address before posting" when trying to import a new community post from LJ. I'm pretty sure my email address is already authenticated, and I was able to import stuff from my personal journal without any problems... is there some way to authenticate my email address for the community as well?

You should be able to confirm the email address for the community by going to https://www.dreamwidth.org/register and choosing the community from the drop-down list on that page.

Let us know if you continue to have problems with the importer!

I assume it's based on this code push: when I go to dreamwidth front page, the post location defaults to the alphabetically-first community I belong to. I think it should default to my journal.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the code push, and I wouldn't have thought so, but for the past three days I'm not getting email alerts for comments. I thought maybe they were just slow in arriving, but they're only showing up in my journal's inbox, not in my email and when I try to fix it in my settings, I tick the email box then save, but it doesn't stick, the tick vanishes. It's weird.

You are the unlucky latest recipient of an extremely rarely occurring bug we've been trying to track down for-fucking-ever: we have no idea what triggers it, what the underlying mechanism for it could be, or how we could possibly fix it or even help you work around it. If you give us your browser/OS combination (with version numbers, please) and all your enabled extensions, we'll look into it again and see if more data helps; I may be in touch with you for some more debug information.

Don't know if this is related to this code push or not, though it feels like it just came up very recently -- some of the text on the Select Style page is suddenly very tiny.

I don't know if this is working as it's supposed to or not or if it can be fixed, but when I click the log-in link on the homepage, a "pop-up" shows up with the relevant fields. I have "tab to next link" (or whatever it's called) active in my browser, but rather than taking me to the username box, hitting tab will run me through the entirety of the links on the homepage-- including the drop-down menus-- before moving to the log-in box. It's a minor annoyance but it throws me every time.

I'm using Safari 16.4 on MacOS Ventura 13.3.1.
