If you:

* Experienced a mild photosensitive reaction to the changes in the last code push (however you define 'mild');
* Do not currently have any userstyle or custom CSS applied to dreamwidth.org and did not have a reaction to the version of the entry/comment page that was live on the site before the code push;
* Are technically comfortable installing and/or using Stylus/Stylish userscripts;
* Are willing to possibly get a headache For Science if our changes didn't work (and then disable things as soon as you realize you are, of course):

-- then please chime in here! We have a few things we'd like to A/B test with a wider pool of people who are more susceptible to some of the triggers in the last set of changes than our photosensitive alpha testers are, but we don't want to put things in front of people who had the more moderate or severe reactions until we have a bit more confidence.

Can I just say thank you for being open and understanding about these things?

I've not had any issues with DW thus far, but I do on other sites that are not taking our concerns seriously at all about photo sensitivities.

Thank you, your work is so appreciated.

I came here to say the same thing - though I personally didn't have any reaction to the DW changes, it's something I'm sensitive to in general, and usually the developers just don't care at all. Thank you, DW!

I will not be volunteering for this round because I went zero to migraine on the code push, but as such I very much appreciate this reaching-out and double-checking in stages.

Aha. I just saw this entry on my reading page, and immediately hoped you'd spotted it for the reaching out and double-checking in stages of repair aspect.

I just got a new bottle of oxycodone, so I am Prepared to mildly suffer for Dreamwidth's good.

This comment was totally not explicitly clear enough so: me! I get literal seizures from LiveJournal's layout but my reaction to DW's was just some eye-burn and vertigo.

Unfortunately I can't offer to help test for that because if I get a migraine it knocks me way out, but I just wanted to chime in that I really appreciate how responsive you guys are to this and I know you all are doing a lot of hard work, fast.

I volunteer as tribute!

I use celerity skin, primarily, without any additional codings. Mostly on a chromebook but I have a windows 10 computer that I can also check in on Chrome/Firefox/Internet Explorer For Science, if needed. The effects were very slow for me. I could tell something was Off, but the headache and nausea was a build up instead of immediate. I think that would fall under mild/moderate?

I'd be willing to help test! I did install a handful of Stylus scripts already that's helped the migraine inducing response but can disable them to install whatever you guys are working on instead.

Sure, sign me up! It hasn't triggered an actual migraine for me, just the eyestrain that can lead to one if I'm not careful, so I'd say that's more to the 'mild' side of things.

If having always used Dreamwidth for Widescreen is alright, I'm more than happy to volunteer.

(I would disable the Widescreen styling for testing as needed, of course.)

I don't know if it is the same thing or if it is just my browser, but the new pages stutter when scrolling down. That kind of thing gives me a headache. If I turn on the beta features, scrolling is smooth again.

Here's a video of the stuttering while scrolling down.

I would like to help! I use Celerity in the default skin; I did turn the beta option for the site skin on, but I can turn it on and off as needed for testing. My reaction was immediate but very mild.

Photosensitivity is so weird! There is absolutely nothing about the new site skin that had ever been on my Makes Brain Weird list, and yet I opened a post in the new style in a tab and immediately brain = weird? Who knows.

I'm not photosensitive and don't qualify to test this, but as someone with friends who have been dealing with a Certain Other Site's absolute fuckheadedness around similar issues all day, I just want to say thank you for working on a fix and finding the right people to test it and, you know, actually taking it seriously.

I'm willing to sign up if you still need volunteers! I've used Stylus (but not Stylish) before and typically use the Tropospheric Red site skin. My schedule's a little crazy so I might not have time to try something out immediately, but if you can wait a day or two for feedback in general and still need someone, count me in!

As someone with moderate photosensitivity, should I be aware of a change that might affect my ability to use this site? Or is this just a beta thing that will go away when you release it in full?

Sorry for commenting though I don't meet the criteria, I'm just making sure

If you go to https://www.dreamwidth.org/beta and toggle the button below "Temporarily revert updated journal page components," that should tell you whether you're sensitive to the recent changes?

(I'm not really sensitive to them, but I do find the 1.5 line spacing a little harder to read with my uncorrectable eye-floater stuff. Plus some color issues tweak me.)

I have no photosensitive issues that I'm aware of but I want to say that your instant response to what people reported and your all-around superhero attempts to make DW usable for absolutely everyone, along with your commitment to keeping it ad-free, are what brought me to DW in the first place and why I don't intend leaving any time soon. I don't think I know of another social media site that's so open to letting it's userbase know what's going on. Thank you, [staff profile] denise and [staff profile] mark and everyone else on the DW dev team!
