Code push imminent!

I'm about to pull the lever on tonight's code push! I'll update this post when it's finished.

Update: All done! Comment here if you notice any issues that need our attention. Sorry about any transient weirdness for a few minutes there.

Just to note, your code push might very well be screwing with all my logins. I was mid-tag when it said I couldn't tag as a community, and now it's not letting me log into most of my accounts. There seems to be a mixed bag of which accounts I can log into. So far, on my active ljlogin list, I can log into this and 2 others. The others refuse to let me.

[personal profile] unignited 2016-10-02 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Lots of other people having similar problems. Apparently it's also turning communities into normal journals.

And turning normal journals into communities. I was also going to note that I've tried logging in manually and opening chrome to add an account to its ljlogin and it won't let me because apparently my password is incorrect. So it's either done something to passwords or... I dunno, man.

Seems to be. Thank you for the quick jump on that. My only complaint now would be lack of emailed notifications, and I REALLY hope this isn't like the last couple of times where we've gone days without resolution. I'm happy to wait for the rest of the day to see if it sorts itself, but I also pretty please hope this isn't another 2+ day issue.

Again, thank you for your guys' quick action and keep up all that great work.

Seems to have on my end, as I got a lump of yours and Mark's replies, along with others that came in on time.

You guys really are the best, and thank you for being so on the ball with this.

Same. Out of my four accounts, this is the only one I can log into. The others I get either a "wrong password" message or I'm told I can't post as a community. None of theses are community accounts.

As far as I can tell we found the issue and fixed it and it's back to normal now, please let us know if you see anything still misbehaving.

Edit: I AM MADE REDUNDANT! I typed too much.

Login has broken it seems, and journals that were journals are now being flagged as communities, and communities briefly turned into journals though those seem to be okay now.

I'm seeing the "You're about to view content that the journal owner has advised should be viewed with discretion" cut tag on posts that weren't showing me that cut tag last time I refreshed my reading page.

Having the same issues as those above and can't log into most of my accounts. Considering I just dropped money on a premium account and was about to pay for icons on my other accounts, I'm a bit chafed.

. . is the Gold Leaf layout supposed to have that weird ugly bright red box of "Some books from librarything" breaking the top layout? Because like otherwise it's a lovely layout but a) that's a really jarring colour block and b) I am really bemused because it shows up on my own journal and I don't have a Librarything so . . .
kareila: (Default)

[personal profile] kareila 2016-10-02 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting! I can see it when previewing the theme on your journal, so it's not just you, but it's definitely not part of the layout.

If I go to http://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/options?group=text and add HTML containing an image to the textarea next to "Text for the 'Custom Text' box" the image appears in about the same spot. Check there?

[personal profile] recessional 2016-10-02 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
There is indeed stuff in there but I can't for the life of me think why . . . not least because it appears to be [personal profile] beatrice_otter's. And I am not they.

[div class="ltwidget"][br /][img src="http://www.librarything.com/gwidget/widget.php?view=beatrice_otter&type=random&width=205&top=Some books of mine at LibraryThing&bc=c90808&ac=000000&tc=ffffff&hc=ffffff&hbold=1&tbold=1" /][br /][/div]

*points up* That's what's preloaded there (with kind of bracket changed, of course). Which again, v def not [personal profile] beatrice_otter and cannot for the life of me figure out how that would end up in the layout coding on my journal.
kareila: (Default)

[personal profile] kareila 2016-10-02 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
That's extremely odd!

Whenever you choose a new journal style, the customize wizard is supposed to create a new layer for use with the layout that saves your customizations. This is what I see when I look at http://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/advanced/layers on the account where I'm using Gold Leaf: http://imgur.com/a/Cf6Mr

And this is what I see when I edit the customization layer, it's basically blank: http://imgur.com/a/CL7ZV

Let me know if you see something substantially different! The styles area is definitely not my area of expertise but hopefully we can figure this out!

[personal profile] recessional 2016-10-02 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Clearing out the text box that contained the stuff I quoted solved the layout problem; I'm just bemused/bewildered at how apparently [personal profile] beatrice_otter's custom layer ended up at my place, as it were!

I'm not sure if this has to do with the code push but it did change afterwards from how it was before so... why does my own journal now show up in site search results rather than being separated out? It used to be I could search my own journal for a term, but then those results were excluded when I searched the site. It is not useful to have the results from my own journal turn up in the full site search, since I can get them from searching only my own journal.
kareila: (Default)

[personal profile] kareila 2016-10-02 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not aware of any changes made to site search recently! I don't think it's designed to exclude results from the searcher's journal, so I'm not sure why it was doing that before... We'll have to look into it!

[staff profile] denise 2016-10-15 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, sorry about the delay, I was sick! There are currently no known issues with the importer. If you're having trouble, check out your inbox to find the error message, which will usually give you a starting place for troubleshooting. If you can't figure it out, open a support request in the Importer category with whatever error message you're getting.

Its not in the errors, it's failing to bring all posts over. http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/see_request?id=34520

I'm sorry you're sick, it can wait! Feel better soon!

Ugh, issues like that are really hard to troubleshoot (and usually wind up being a problem with the data feed from the other site). I'll see if I can get someone to look into it, but it will probably be a while.
mudousetsuna: (Default)

[personal profile] mudousetsuna 2016-10-15 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay,i understand if it's not fixable! But if there's any tests I can do on my end to either community, let me know! And thank you again!

Not crossposting to LJ

[personal profile] thnidu 2016-10-18 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
http://thnidu.dreamwidth.org/1547877.html isn't crossposting to LJ, the only xpost I have set, and there's no notice in my inbox. I've been repeating
"edit your entry, recheck the crossposting box, and try again"
for 15–20 minutes, about half a dozen times in all, and deleting the junk that keeps showing up at "Save" several times (brackets squared off)—

Re: Not crossposting to LJ

Huh, we didn't do anything to fix it! Random bits of CSS in the visible page usually means that your browser didn't properly load the page on the first try and then was caching the messed-up load -- if your browser didn't fully load the form that asks the site to try crossposting something, the site won't even recognize that you're trying to crosspost. I'm guessing that's what happened. (It then 'spontaneously' fixes itself when the cached page expires and your browser re-fetches it.) If it happens again, try clearing your browser cache?

That mess of appended garbage shows up on the page as just "Save", and has often been doing so for months. Any progress on it?

No problem. :) I'm suspecting it's a problem with your browser or a conflict with one of your browser extensions, but a screenshot might help me figure out what's going on a little better.
