Updating MogileFS and other backend code

Hi all,

I'm doing some updates on our backend file storage system. This should be transparent, but there may be a brief window where icons aren't loading. Please let me know if you are having any trouble or see any problems!

Can you try logging out of the site, clearing your browser cache, logging back in, and reloading the page? Those symptoms generally mean that your browser is storing an outdated version of the page.

I have heard this theory before. I cleared my cache and will try logging out and logging back in. I'm not sure why suddenly I'd be seeing an outmoded page but it's worth a shot.

*nod* It may be something more sinister, but doing that first will help us rule out the obvious!

Okay, I logged out and cleared my cache (again, just in case) and logged back in. I can get to my locked entry comments from my inbox, and probably everywhere else as long as I don't try to navigate from my own page directly, but I still can't see my locked entries from my own page.

Edit: I can't see locked entries on my reading page either, unless I navigate there indirectly, say from my profile page or by typing into search.

This is weird.

hmmmmm. This is very weird, yes!

I poked Mark to see if he has any ideas, I may come back and ask you some more questions :)

I am not having any problems using my laptop. I'll try expiring all of my sessions from this computer and see what happens. It must be an issue on my end, I just can't imagine what it could be.

Can any of your friends see your locked posts if they look at your journal in your style? I'm wondering if there might be something weird going on with the style.

No, I think it must have to do with my browser on my desktop, because I am on my laptop and the site is working fine. I'm going to try running my antivirus and then C-Cleaner and if worse comes to worst, I'll either download Chrome or uninstall and reinstall Firefox (shudders).

Okay, that makes it even weirder. I'm wondering if maybe the browser has some kind of aggressive caching going on? ...yeah, I got nothin'.

Good luck in getting the desktop fixed :/

Butting in because I followed this earlier; I keep having the whole Keep-Getting-Logged-Out issue: it's *not* the lack of cache-clearing, and I do assume it is FireFox's fault because on Chrome, I retain my login. Only Chrome is a commercial instrument in a million ways, making it impossible to block those fifteen million advertisements out there, often blinking and headache-incuding, not to mention Chrome actively seems to discourage the same level of no-fucking-frills functionality, so I'd rather not use it because it frustrated me in every way that does not pertain to Dreamwidth.

It's true I can switch to Opera, but I'd rather not try the third browser just to view my home blog without logging in every five seconds...

If you're only having problems in Firefox, the issue is likely with one of your extensions -- many people have reported problems with LJLogin and LJ Juggler in particular. Try disabling extensions in batches until you don't have the problem anymore, then add them back in one at a time until you figure out which one is the problem!

Extensions; that could be it -- I tried googling some key words of my problem, but the Dreamwidth and Firefox and Login nexus was too wide.

Thanks, then! Will try...
