Imports from LJ re-enabled

After a bunch of testing, we are pleased to announce that we've been able to re-enable imports from LiveJournal. Apologies for the delay: we were waiting for the LJ cookie changes to stabilize and be documented!

Thanks go to LJ for making their changes more backwards-compatable. If you'd like to start a new import from LJ, you can do so at the Import Content page.

No. I deleted all cookies from IE but new attempts were not successful.

Can you check your inbox and see if there's any message regarding the import? If it's failing, there should be an error.

If you're just getting the 'aborted', without an error, it's likely that you did have a previous import scheduled and forgot about it, and it's in the queue for future running. Right now there's 28 comment imports and 9 entries imports still queued from the time when imports were turned off from LJ. If you submit a new import and your older one is still in the queue, it will say 'aborted', even though it actually isn't. (Fu filed a bug to fix the confusing errors this morning.)

Should be, yeah. (I don't actually have the ability to look at the import queue and see details of whose imports are in it, so I can't tell you for sure.) Check back in a day; if it hasn't changed and there's no queue anymore, try starting a new import.

I haven't any message regarding the import in my Imbox since 26.10.2011. That day I waited several minutes in Verification username/password stage, started new import and immediately was aborted without message in my Imbox.

That probably means your other import is still in the queue. We're working through the jobs that were started just after LJ made their cookie changes and we had to pause the queue. You'll get a message in your inbox when it either completes or fails: until you get a message in your inbox, the job is still waiting.
