Pushing code!

We're about to push code live. This will require us to take down the site for about ten minutes while we run updates and slowly bring things back up again.

Let us know here if anything breaks.

- Styles-specific issues to watch out for
- via [staff profile] denise in the previous entry, code tours covering the changes in this code push:

I lost my layout/theme....visually anyway. I was testing a layout/theme based on S2 Core2. The layers are actually still present.

Hm. I think this might have something to do with the moving of things into external stylesheets; there might be a [site community profile] dw_styles post with how to fix it, but I'm very style-braindead, so I shall wait for [personal profile] fu to wake up with suggesitons :)

Yes! Thank you! the entry in [site community profile] dw_styles helped. :)

Edit Profile: minor quibbles

[personal profile] ninetydegrees 2010-07-29 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
-- All schemes: there is no spacing between the first two sections and the 'Jump To' link names doesn't always quite match the header text they link to.

-- Tropo only: first two headers have lost their coloring because this:

#page_manageprofile td {
background-color: #f7f7f7;
}

overrides the CSS for section_head.

-- Gradation: text of subheaders is unreadable.

Are you going to file a bug for these, or would you rather I do it? I'd be happy to let you fix these up, since I won't have time to do it right away.

Nope, I wasn't planning on doing so.

Okay, I'll get it then. No point in detailing the problems if you don't want them fixed. :)

I don't understand. I do want them fixed. Is reporting these here a problem?

Never mind, I think I must have misunderstood your response.

I've got the bug reopened, but I don't know if I'll get around to it in the near future.

Edit Profile issue

[personal profile] delight 2010-07-29 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't expect any changes to come from this because of the fact that it is an accessibility issue for me only, as my vision problems are, uh, unique –

but I am forced to turn on Voice to read me the page now, as the horizontal lines cause blurring and I am unable to actually read the text on the page. At all. The combination of optic neuropathy and ADD is making it so I legitimately can't read the page at all.

I wasn't going to mention it, but was encouraged to just so you knew; I am not expecting this to change, but so it can be documented: can't read it. At all. Apologies!

(Everything else is awesome though! I feel really, really bad for complaining. I'm just convinced you meant for there to be words there and not black dots – my screenreader does a fine job, though.)

Sorry for the trouble! Which sitescheme are you using to view the page?

Tropo purple!

I have yet to try looking at it in Lynx, which might work and might make the letter-swimming worse ...

I don't know if it's because of the codepush but I don't remember it being like this before: checking the tickybox in front of an inbox item no longer colours the whole item. (Which made me realise that I'd gotten completely dependent on the colour to tell me if an item has been checked or not.)

Yeah, same for me.

I too am finding the edit profile page rather...distracting and a little bit messy. It's all the horizontal lines strewn everywhere. It makes my eyes dart about trying to find what I'm looking for.

I don't mind the new placement of things, it makes sense. But the lines are just really distracting and make things difficult. Do we really need lines to divide every little form box? XD

I appreciate the work that's going in to make DW better but I thought I'd give my input on it.
mage: (a moments hesitation)

I removed the lines and I think it looks a lot better. Maybe making the headers of "Identity" etc have the grey background like on Mini Bio and Interests also would be nice.

And I've just noticed the edit profile page is completely different on Celerity. It's changed to have the same basic layout (all the forms and such are in the new place) but is better laid out. Maybe this is just a problem with the Tropospherical site schemes? Or was it made different for those?
