Code Push Shortly

I will be doing the code push in about 10 minutes. I will update this post (and Twitter) as necessary to keep everybody informed as to what's going on.

Apparently not, someone closed the bug so it no longer showed up on the list of things to be committed. I've reopened it so we'll get it for the next push, sorry for the trouble!

The final diff between the old code and the new code was nearly 7,000 lines, too! I'm sure there are a few gremlins somewhere that will need to be chased out, of course, but it went smooth! Thanks for the comment. :)

Yes, that's one of the things we committed. People didn't like the margins much.

I noticed, while cross-posting to my LJ, that the little link text stating "This is a post originating at DW, please comment there" was missing. Would that fall under the heading of "bug", or might that be something I can fix myself? I'm not entirely sure.

You can specify your own text now! Go to:

If you want to, you can put in your own text. You can also pick when to make the text appear: always, never, or just when comments are disabled on the remote site.

(I'm not sure why it's not showing, though. It should default to showing the footer only when comments are disabled. Hrm.)

I'm using Transmogrified Basic which is set on '2 Column (sidebar on right)' and the sidebar has jumped to the bottom-left of the page and has kept the (now empty) space open on the right.

Sorry -- we don't actively support IE6. Microsoft is up to IE8 now, so we've decided to drop support for archaic versions.

Your best bet, if you can't upgrade your browser, is to find a style that is compatible with your chosen platform. I'm not sure which one to suggest offhand, but one of them should work well enough.

A few quick questions so we can figure out what's going on: Was it working before the codepush? What do you mean by not working -- as in the links aren't links, or clicking the links don't do anything? (And which links, btw?)

Deleted journals appear on http://www.dreamwidth.org/shop/gifts.bml Perhaps it is technically possible to buy paid time for someone with a deleted journal, but it seems quite silly for all concerned.

I don't know if this has anything to do with the code push, but when I posted an entry just now, the footer with the link to the DW entry appeared on the crossposted LJ entry. Even though, I've set it to only post footer when comments are disabled and I haven't disabled comments over on LJ.

I don't know if it is any thing to do with the code push but I am unable to do a cut properly today though I am doing exactly the same as I have been doing since I got DW account.

What was the code you used for the beginning and end of the cut? It looks like you've got some cuts in those entries, just in the wrong places. Are you using the Rich Text or HTML editor to post?

Looks just fine there, but when I see it on my Reading Pane, it's only 1 pixel high and 15 pixels wide, like this:



It's kind of weird.


Ooh-- this is also weird. When I press enter at the end of a line, right now as I've been typing, the cursor just goes forward about one space. If I start typing, then it goes to the next line.

Your Reading page looks OK to me, including the feed icons.

Post time incorrect

In this entry in my other DW journal, when I posted it, the time stamp was two hours earlier than it should have been, from my computer clock. It was the right time when I wrote the post, but changed to that time when I hit "submit". (Entry was later edited to add more content to main field.)

In this particular case, it wasn't an issue, since I was going to backdate it to late night on the 13th anyway, instead of early morning on the 14th, but I thought you should know about the bug, in case it continues to be a problem.

Browser used to post was Netscape 7.2, web interface used, no cross-posting -- if that info helps any in the bug triage/diagnosis.
