Привет and welcome to our new Russian friends from LiveJournal! We are happy to offer you a new home. We will not require identification for you to post or comment. We also do not cooperate with Russian government requests for any information about your account unless they go through a United States court first. (And it hasn't happened in 16 years!)

Importing your journal from ЖЖ may be slow. There are a lot of you, with many posts and comments, and we have to limit how fast we download your information from ЖЖ so they don't block us. Please be patient! We have been watching and fixing errors, and we will go back to doing that after the holiday is over.

I am very sorry that we can't translate the site into Russian or offer support in Russian. We are a much, much smaller company than LiveJournal is, and my high school Russian classes were a very long time ago :) But at least we aren't owned by Sberbank!

Вот я пишу посты, создаю контент, какой-никакой, они на моей странице всё засрали своей помойной рекламой, и теперь я же ещё должен за это платить? Какой идиот это будет делать?
Они ещё утверждают, что пытаются таким образом оградиться от ИИ-генерированных постов и комментов. Только вместе с ИИ выплёскивают и пользователей. Очень странный подход.

Главное - чтоб неподконтрольных площадок у верноподданных не было, а будут ли хоть какие-то - дело десятое.

Да наоборот же. В ЖЖ юзеры были в одном месте, и всё было более-менее под присмотром. Не понравился пост - удаляем, не нравится журнал - блокируем, если уж совсем наглеть стал - ищем по IP и т. п.
А сейчас все побегут хз куда, и никакого контроля. Этак придётся вообще всё забугорье перекрыть, оставить только чебурнет.

Оплатить прем можно от другого человека; социальный капитал зарабатывается чисто флудом; даже "айди" можно завести на чужой номер. Это всё делается не для контроля, и не ради денег, а чисто чтобы мешать людям пользоваться. Ещё не совсем a tumblr, но распространяет недавно опробованные "оскорбительные" shadow ban на всех сразу.

говорят, что приняли новый закон 18 декабря, об ограничениях для российских сервисов и штрафах для площадок, его не соблюдающих. То есть, владельцы жж так пытаются прикрыться от него, возможно. Что называется, и сами не рады, но жизнь такая.

Да, российское правительство заявило, что им необходимо идентифицировать всех, чтобы «защитить детей», хотя на самом деле они хотят защитить себя. Но «дети» — это тот предлог, который сейчас используют все.

Они притягивают ЖЖ за уши к формату ВК. Скотсеть для обсуждения сиюминутных новостей, где все вчерашнее соскальзывает в черный ящик, откуда добыть его почти нереально, ибо "а зачем?".
А решение, боюсь, им просто подсказала очередная нейросетка. В огромном посте с новостями ЖЖ, где обсуждают эту милую шалость, нет живых представителей ресурса. ИМ ВСЕ РАВНО.

Well, I don't know how to break it to you but Sberbank (which owns LJ now) is owned by Russian government. Sberbank is Russian government, in a manner of speaking. So obviously LJ owners do what they're told.
The government is not a black spider hanging over Russia. There are many guys in the government, clever and stupid, making many decision, clever and stupid, like everywhere. And this one is extremely stupid, like they want to infuriate people on purpose. Even government supporters say so.

"Cyrillic services" users of LJ will no longer be able to post or comment without making a payment or linking an identity-verified account. Allegedly to "increase accountability and identifiability"! By which they mean: to end anonymity completely and allow the Russian government to instantly obtain the government name and identity of anyone who posts anything to LiveJournal that they don't like, for the purposes of retaliation.

This scenario is absolutely why we're fighting "age verification" laws in the US as hard as we are! Because people should have the right to criticize their government online without having to worry about being disappeared.

And making the payment is linked to (a) using some Russian-based payment system and, therefore (b) full identification. Basically, this is a way to cut off those users who live abroad and have opinions on that shit which is going on in Russia and, obviously, different from official Russian propaganda.

So far the only remaining hole is left for active users (with co called "social capital") but without comments eventually there also will be selection.

Moreover, the users who don't use the cyrillic services are banned on the territory of Russia*.

If a user has the Russian IP, he or she can't read "non-cyrillic" journals anymore.
And "non-cyrillic" users can't comment "cyrillic" journals.

So Russian audience of ЖЖ (at least those people who don't use VPN) is isolated now from the "foreign influence". And I believe it was one of the goals of the update.

LJ 30.12.2025 begin require handle to passport data ("sberbank id" or pay through russian card, that is the same as "sberbank id"), so Full name, registration (address of residence), date of birth, passport number, where and when was the passport received etc.

This is likely related to the strengthening of internet surveillance laws (modifications of "packet Yarovoy") since the beginning of the 2026 year: extend the storage period for posts from one year to three years.

Yarovoy - is surname russian congresswomen ("deputat gosduma").

Users of the LJ are penalty or facing up to 2.5 years in prison for any posts about the Russian army (low №32), since before LJ it posts simple blocked. Moreover, the comparison of Putin’s speeches does not comply with the law on discrediting the army, since LJ blocked my post consist only Putin’s speeches about recruitment into the army and the size of the army's manpower in summer and winter 2025 year.

For the past four years, the Russian authorities have been interested only in Ukraine and the army. In Russia, it is permitted to criticize Putin and the government, but it is forbidden to condemn the army and everything it is doing in Ukraine.

For example, Boris Kagarlitsky is serving 2 years in prison for the phrase "understandable from a military point of view".
