Привет! LiveJournal imports may be slow
Привет and welcome to our new Russian friends from LiveJournal! We are happy to offer you a new home. We will not require identification for you to post or comment. We also do not cooperate with Russian government requests for any information about your account unless they go through a United States court first. (And it hasn't happened in 16 years!)
Importing your journal from ЖЖ may be slow. There are a lot of you, with many posts and comments, and we have to limit how fast we download your information from ЖЖ so they don't block us. Please be patient! We have been watching and fixing errors, and we will go back to doing that after the holiday is over.
I am very sorry that we can't translate the site into Russian or offer support in Russian. We are a much, much smaller company than LiveJournal is, and my high school Russian classes were a very long time ago :) But at least we aren't owned by Sberbank!
С Новым Годом, and welcome home!
Thank you also to everyone who's been giving our new neighbors a warm welcome. I love you all ❤️

I wish Google Translate didn't charge websites so much money to include their "translate this, right here, with one click" button. But it still amazes me that I can have conversations with a person who only speaks Japanese or Portuguese or any language I don't know at all, just by pasting what they say into another window. It's amazing when you stop to think about it.

> But it still amazes me...
Yes, it is absolutely fantastic! I've caught the times when PC was just starting, and one machine occupied the giant and noisy hall )) The AI breakthrough was something unexpected and it is a real miracle.
I was engaged in machine translation for some period, so I have a time to practice ) But the live language can not be modeled, because language is an instrument of thinking. That is why I try to find ways to express thoughts outside Google if possible )

It's okay if you aren't interested in fics! There are lots of people who write more about their daily life or other subjects, like bird watching and gardening; I like to write a lot about fics myself, but I also post about my job and my family.
I mainly know English (I'm trying to learn Esperanto and know a tiny bit of French), so anyone who can communicate in a language they didn't learn growing up is amazing to me! For me, as long as we can get our ideas across, that's what's important, not being 100% correct.
