Importer work leads to issues

Hi all,

I'm currently working through a few issues that have been spotted in the last hour or so. I was doing some maintenance on our importer system to make it more resilient and this involved pushing out a few patches to core Dreamwidth.

I anticipated this to be no-impact because we haven't made a lot of changes this year (at least, not in highly visible areas), but it has resulted in a couple of hiccups. I'm working through these now and will keep this list updated as I become aware of and resolve issues.

Fixed Issues

• Old deprecated update page wasn't working (PS, try the "Beta" Update Page)!
• Profiles are redirecting back to your own profile
• Support request viewer is missing some language strings
• Support request list page was missing table styling

Ah, that explains why I couldn't get the posting page to work and it suddenly started working again. Thanks! I didn't even have a chance to report the problem before you had it fixed. That's fast!

Is the drag and drop image upload not working part of the hiccups?

This seems to be working for me, in both Firefox and Chrome. What browser are you in and what are you seeing?

I'm using Chrome. It's not working on my Win 8.1 and my Win 10 machines. (Adblock is turned off)

I'm seeing a line where the drag and drop box used to be. It's just a faint line through the bold lettered "Upload"

I just noticed an empty, long, narrow rectangular frame on the beta entry posting and editing page, between the metadata section (tags, comment settings, icon, etc.) and the Post Entry button at the bottom of the form (not the one below the entry text and next to the privacy settings). I didn't notice if it was already there last time I posted on December 28. Chromium Version 88.0.4324.96 (Official Build) (64-bit). NBD, unless something important should be in there.

Do you have a screenshot? I'm not seeing that, altho I'm in Firefox: screenshot

Edit: Tested in Chrome, too. My best guess is that it's the 'community administration' section that is not properly disappearing? Do you have any JavaScript or other blockers that might affect its visibility?

Doesn't look like it. Notice the long strip in both screenshots below (Chromium, but I just checked and it's there in Firefox as well), that with the comm where I'm an admin is under the actual community administration section. Before I start poking at my plug-ins to see if I can make it go away, can you try when posting to a community? That's the other difference between your screenshot and mine.

I'm not sure if the importer you mean has anything to do with importing journal content, but just in case. I was wondering if there's anything in the works to fix community comment imports from insanejournal? I think it broke back in 2017 or 2018, based on my comment history where I mentioned it here; I can't go any further in comment history due to having a free account, but I know I'd mentioned it before. (It also seems to not be able to verify for trying to initiate an import right now - it got through entries and tags but not comments last night*. I get "XMLRPC failure: Failed to connect to the server too many times." when it finally times out now.)

*My bad. I just actually checked the community in question and the last posts are from 2020 so it didn't successfully import at all last night. I just misread.

I haven’t been receiving notifications at all for the past several days. I even switched the email address to receive them at to another email address, but that didn’t work, either. Has this been a problem for others? Also, the contact me by email option doesn't save when I click it on the notifications page. I'm extremely upset about this and would appreciate assistance. This is the same for at least fifteen usernames I have.

Importer Failing: XMLRPC failure: Failed to connect to the server too many times

I'm having issues with the importer again; it was working on Monday, but today it failed twice; this morning it successfully imported the tags but failed at the entry stage, but this evening it failed at the tag stage. The error message I get is:
