Code push imminent!

We're about to pull the lever on tonight's code push! I'll update this post when it's finished. For a reminder of what to expect, check the previous post for the list of changes.

I'm sorry about this! Our current working theory is that it's an unintended side effect of a few backend changes, and we'll try to get it fixed as quickly as we can.

Not directly! (The image hosting has existed for a while; this is just putting a more pretty frontend on it.) The problem (we think) is that we did some backend work on how we handle files, which broke the thing that lets you upload a larger icon and resize it on the site, which broke all from-file uploads. (That's the working theory, at least.) It wasn't an immediate fix last night when it cropped up, so [staff profile] mark put in a quick hack fix (that has since stopped helping, it seems) and will be working on a permanent as soon as he can.

You can upload from URL still, though -- if you don't want to wait for it to get fixed, you can upload the icon to another image host like Flickr and then load it from there.

Oh okay. These profile images are 100x100 in my downloads though so they shouldn't need to get resized. They're all under 40kb too.

I can wait tho. I already went through the process to upload them despise the watermarks.

Yeah, the thing that broke means that all uploads-from-file are broken, not just uploads-from-file that need to be resized! (Think of it like, all uploads-from-file can't proceed until they hear back from the thing that resizes icons with confirmation that the icon is an acceptable size, and the thing that resizes icons isn't answering the phone at the moment.)

PS: our icon size limit is 60kb, not 40kb -- we changed it a while back!
