Known Issues Update 12/2

• The site may occasionally be slow to respond or have trouble connecting as we tune servers and databases, or you may receive Gateway Timeout errors.

• Comment notification emails may be delayed due to database load.

• Inbound email (post-by-email and comment-by-email) may be delayed for a bit while your outgoing mail server catches up with the switch.

• Email sent to your username@dreamwidth.org address may be more likely to be marked as spam, due to our mail server changing its IP address.

• The site search database may be missing entries and comments and will catch up over the next few days, as database load allows. Entries and comments posted since the site came back up will be added to the index as they're posted.

• Logging into other sites using your Dreamwidth OpenID is working again! Yay!

• Loading embedded content over secure connections should be fixed!

• There is a known problem with trying to rearrange elements on the Beta Update page because a script element isn't loading properly. Update: This should be fixed now!

Out of curiosity (and also because of IRC saying that it happened before but no one remembered why), what was the problem with OpenID?

I think it could be best characterized as "problems using deprecated methods in a third-party module", but it could also be fairly characterized as "how the heck did this ever work in the first place?" We think the previous fix may have been to revert to an older version of the module.

Very minor thing I've noticed is that for paid accounts, opening the browse window to select an icon for comments is very hit and miss. If it doesn't load in the usual amount of time, chances are you'll have to close the window and try again.

That may be another symptom of the same problem that is causing issues on the beta update page. We are investigating a fix for that! Or, if it's not a consistent failure, it might be the that the related JavaScript sometimes takes too long to load and times out. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I'm having trouble getting an embedded video to load on one of my journal entries. The mirror at LJ is working fine.

We had some trouble earlier with embedded videos not loading on https connections, that would work over http - but we fixed that Thursday. So if you're still seeing embedding issues, can you open a support request with a link to the entry that is causing problems for you? Thanks :)

dns and 504 errors all over the place when trying to load pages and comments. and i logging in is hit and miss. took me half a dozen tries before it stuck.

I keep getting two different kinds of 504 Gateway Time-out pages. 1/4th the time I make it but the rest the 504 pages. Please help!

Sorry! Saturday night is one of our heaviest load periods & we still need to do some performance tweaks. The next few days may continue to have some site loading problems as we finalize the new setup.

I don't know if this is connected but I'm having trouble with my mood theme(s). Many of the pics just won't load. Some of them do but it seems kind of random which ones. (All of them loads when I try to look at them directly without the DW bits in the URLs.) Also, the manage mood theme page - http://www.dreamwidth.org/manage/moodthemes - stalls halfloaded indefinitely.

I'm having some, but not all, of my feeds not displaying pictures. Is this a known thing? I see stuff about videos listed here, but not images.
