We'll be starting the code push relatively soon; there may be a few blips here and there as we work. I'll update this post when it's all finished!
EDIT: Code has been pushed. Let us know if you encounter any problems! A list of the (many) bugfixes included in this push will be forthcoming.

edit: no change whatsoever, but if you can't fix it, you can't fix it. Thanks for trying.

I love you guys SO MUCH right now for giving us this option! Thank you!
(After the code push my journal was displaying in single-column mode in landscape view on my phone, which was already a massive improvement over the two-column view before the push. But I still have a strong preference for not using mobile view at all.)

While testing this I discovered that it seems to be not so much a per-device setting as a per-browser one. After I'd checked the check box in Dolphin, I was still getting the mobile view when I viewed my journal in Firefox and had to check the box again there. Both browsers are now remembering the setting, though.

ETA: Also I'm not sure why setting the other values to 0 doesn't fix it, and both steps are required. *confused*
2nd ETA: also I forgot to point out that with both values setting 0, when my device is forgotten, neither horizontal nor vertical orientation works, whereas before this push, vertical was at least legible.

Setting the other values to 0 only affects your personal journal's style; the mobile settings in account options are for viewing all journals (they're for different use cases, based on your comment it seemed like you'd want both)

I would think, though, if I'm viewing my personal journal, that it wouldn't matter that the other preference isn't sticking.

DW is allowed to set cookies, and not only session ones. But the check box that turns off mobile view for the device refuses to stay checked. :(

(Really, I just don't want any changes whatsoever to how my journal looks. I've had it exactly the way I want it, but the last couple of DW code changes have caused small... issues with this. It's a faintly concerning trend to me.)

I'm afraid that "no changes ever to what your journal looks like" isn't possible to expect when you're using a system style -- we will always make changes for bugfixes and to add support for new features. If it's important to you that nothing ever change, you may want to copy the system style and stylesheet and use them on your account as a custom style, since custom styles don't inherit those bugfixes and new-feature support. The corollary, of course, is that you won't have access to bugfixes and support for new features.

I'm not opposed to bug fixes or (optional) new features--only odd random changes to little details of my layout, which I would hope DW will never deliberately do. :Þ (Though if this case was caused by the fixing of a bug that had accidentally done a good thing, I understand that.)

Afuna did a quick fix for this code push because I've been busy with other things. The borders might get tweaked (as they're not directly related to the accessibility issue) but I can't promise it.

I filed a support query several weeks ago about all this and never got a reply. Is that just normal backlog (the automated message doesn't give a time range for answering, which is disappointing but I'm sure it's impossible to give a range)? I don't think I've had to wait this long before on support requests, but it's been a few years since I've had one. I'm curious because I don't want to delete it before its read because it's half 'this is broken' and half 'expressing my dismay at the way this change was handled,' which I don't want to delete unread.
