images and JS loading problems
Some people are having problems loading images (icons in particular) and static content such as Javascript right now -- we've been testing out a new content delivery network (CDN) to speed up access to static content, and it seems like a small percentage of people can't load things from the network. Hang tight, we'll get it fixed as soon as possible.

Can you try going to this URL: http://u.dreamwidth.org/959420/2
If it doesn't load, please try holding Shift and clicking your refresh button. Then let me know if it loads.

* Go to Entry Editor Settings, switch to "HTML" instead of either Rich Text or Last Used.
* opt into the new beta page
But we'll work on it and try to get things fixed as soon as we can!

Thanks for always being so quick to (try to) fix things, much appreciated

I'm working on learning iOS programming in my free time, and I hope to make something very straightforward in the future. My intent is just something that will let you upload photos you take, and probably do quick posts. No HTML editing, just text.
It's way too early to promise anything though. This is just something I'm working on in my spare time -- which isn't exactly copious. One day if I work for Dreamwidth fulltime again... :)

ETA: though it still appears when hovering over the userhead so really this isn't that big an issue and now I'm trying to work out if I've always done it that way, l-lmao.

I also wanted to thank you for your quick response to the RTE problem.
Edit: Nevermind, it started working now.
Hover menus missing
There are no hover menus anywhere on DW, not in site scheme nor on custom pages.
(edit) Slight correction: the tiny little DW icon next to our usernames still produces contextual hovers; the user icons do not.
Re: Hover menus missing
Instead of the white box that pops out when a person hovers on an icon, it now pops a text message (similar to html span title).
Not as big of an issue as the unresponsive RTE for me, but still hope to see this resolved anyway. Thanks!
I'm not on any beta btw. :)

I, too, can't expand comments for the same reasons.

But cannot upload icons (one time only worked out).
Is problem still ongoing? Can you fix that, please.

My icons have been slowly disappearing/not-loading over the last few days. At first it was just one, but then more and more of them stopped loading, so now it's about a dozen or so. Trying to upload the same icon without deleting the one that isn't loading doesn't work so I guess it detects that the same icon is already there, but they don't show up.
I get this error message if I try to view the individual broken icons.
"Oops!
If you've gotten this error, it means that something is currently (and, with luck, temporarily) broken. Please wait five minutes and try again.
If the problem persists after five minutes, please check our offsite status page to see if we're aware of the problem. If we haven't updated it, drop us an email and let us know something's broken. (Be sure to tell us what you were doing.)"
