Code pushed

Hi all!

We've pushed live the latest code for Dreamwidth. There are some major internal changes to how we serve up files, so you might see some things being a little weird. Please report anything that isn't loading, looks broken, or what-have-you!

Thanks for your patience!

Those of us using custom skins to make the site more functional/visible for us in ways that aren't covered by the official skins are finding that most of them are pretty borked now. Is there anything you can do about that, or should we just go make sad eyes at the people who made the overrides?

I noticed the same thing! Looks like this for me now and before it looked like this

I know we have to edit the style in Stylish or whatever is being used, but I have no clue what to even edit or look for and what it is now and viewing source was of no help to me.

I just edited a post of mine, and the "Save changes" button didn't have any text:

Clicking on the blank button did save successfully though, and when I went to edit the post again the text was displaying properly, so that might have been a one off thing or something.

I am finding that now that I've edited that post, the "disable auto-formatting" setting that I had for the post has now turned off. I can't seem to find how to turn it back on - is that option still available?

My comment titles are borked. I'd post a screen cap but I haven't attempted to fix them yet so you can see them borked live if you like here: http://marahmarie.dreamwidth.org/139790.html?nc=3#comments fixedit

I'm pretty sure it's new CSS classes added during code push or some-such thing at fault so I won't worry about it unless I see I can't fix it; just thought I'd give a heads-up. the addition of HTML classes .comment-from-text and .comment-date-text, along with the apparent re-confoobling of some comment title positioning aspects, led to my mess on those pages; hid this, changed that, all fixed now

You know what I love best about these code pushes? It's how you not only spring into action to fix whatever got borked, you also take the time to explain things before, during and after you fix it.

That always makes me smile. Thanks for all you do!

I noticed the icon browser has changed on another account I have that is paid, and it seems less useful now. If I select small images w/ no meta text, there's only three icons to a line, with blank spaces where the meta text would go. It used to be they lined up right beside each other and there were a lot in a row (not sure how many, but at least 10?). Any way to fix that so the icons line up together again when I select small images and no meta text?
denise: Image: Me, facing away from camera, on top of the Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome (Default)

[staff profile] denise 2012-09-23 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
That was redesigned based on feedback people provided -- the most common bit of feedback we got was that having the small icons spread across the box made it very hard to see them, and trying to squeeze the keywords/comments/descriptions in underneath was pretty difficult, too. Because of the density of the small-icons even without meta text we thought it was better to keep the small icons in the two-column format even when meta text was turned off.

The large-icons version doesn't use the two-by-two version.

the icon browser and meta text display

[personal profile] fools_journey 2012-09-23 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think this is a glitch per se, but it is something being a little weird.

In the icon browser, before the the code push the options were between large icons, large icons with metatext and small icons, and when you clicked on 'small icons' it would display small thumbnails in a nice neat array, as many as would fit in the browse box. However, now when I select 'small icons' and 'no meta text' the meta text boxes remain, as displayed in this image.

This seems to defeat the purpose in electing not to view the meta text. Or at least they defeat my purpose in clicking it, which is to display as many icons as possible so I can quickly select the appropriate one.

Is this supposed to happen? If so, is there any way to eliminate the empty spaces when viewing small icons?

Anonymous commenting seems to be broken? It doesn't offer me a CAPTCHA, but then complains that I haven't filled it out. There's a little box that shows up for a moment that says "Error: status: 404", and underneath the text field, it says, "Loading anti-spam test..." No anti-spam test ever seems to appear, though.

I'm getting two one problem with this very lovely style. Both problemsThe problem can be observed here:

http://boundbooks.dreamwidth.org/read

1) Long feed names are over-running post titles

Ex. "daily_otter_feed" has letters overlapping with "Otter Shows Off His Whiskers"

2) All the links in the "Page Summary" part of the style are linking to internal links in my own journal.

So, it says "[staff profile] mark in [site community profile] dw_maintenance - Code pushed" but the link for "Code pushed" goes to http://boundbooks.dreamwidth.org/read#entry-49671
Nevermind. Figured out what was going on. >_>

Odd glitch, though possibly from my end? (I'm on a borrowed computer running Firefox 14.0.1) I was reading through my reading page and someone's entry contained a link to an earlier post in her journal. When I clicked on it from the reading page, I was sent to a entry in my own journal. When I went directly to her post and clicked on the link, I was sent to the correct entry in her journal. It seems the post in my journal has the same entry number as the one in her journal that she means to link to, but I'm not sure why the information is changing between the reading page and the post itself.
dreamsofahero: (pondering)

[personal profile] dreamsofahero 2012-09-23 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
That could just be bad coding on the original poster's part: not having a complete URL when creating a hyperlink will mean that instead the link will basically fill in the web domain with whatever the page is being viewed from instead (i.e. just having "/####.html" instead of "http://yourjournal.dreamwidth.org/####.html"). This works perfectly fine when you're linking to your own journal while viewing it from your own journal (from the subdomain yourjournal.dreamwidth.org) or making local links within a personal webpage, but breaks the link whenever someone else views it from their reading page (from the subdomain theirjournal.dreamwidth.org), since that URL information is automatically inserted to complete the unfinished link. This may or may not be the actual problem, but at least the vast majority of the time I see problems like that crop up that's usually the reason behind it.

Edit: Okay, not it's kind of haphazardly, I can see them on some pages, but the explorer icon on other pages (and yes, I did switch compatibility view off and on to see if that would fix the problem too) including on my journal.)
