Code push tonight

mark and I are in the same place for the first time in a while (we're at the lovely-and-welcoming-and-totally-freaking-awesome YAPC::NA in Madison), so we've taken the chance to knock out some bugs that have been annoying us for a while! (Well, okay, it's been more like, I remind Mark about the bugs that have been annoying us for a while, he nods a few times, and ten minutes later, while I've moved on to something else, he offhandedly says, "Oh, I fixed that thing." "What thing?" "The thing you just told me about.")

We're just settling in for the evening's hacking time, and we're tentatively planning on doing a code push later tonight (assuming we get all the things done that we were planning on getting done). We're not anticipating much disruption (but then again, you never anticipate disruption, now do we?)

We'll update you again when we're about to begin the push!

Hi - do you mind if I ask a question?

For the past few days, I've been getting some odd slowdown on the site that nobody else seems to be experiencing. Either a page needs a few attempts to load, I can't get the 'browse' button for icons to display the first time, or the site will just hang. And it's not my connection because all other websites will load just fine.

Is it just me, or is it part of these 'bugs' you're talking about?

That definitely sounds like it's something specific to your computer! Try clearing your browser's cache and then trying again -- usually problems like that indicate that you've got something funky going on with your browser, and "clear your cache" is the first step in troubleshooting things that are funky going on with your browser :)

That's what I thought it might be, but I cleaned it all out from head to toe and the slowdown was still going on. Cache, cookies, everything. Maybe I'll wait and see 'till after the code push, to see if that helps?

Can you try it in a different browser? If you have the same problems in another browser on the same computer, it's possibly something wonky with your internet provider doing some weird routing or something...

Bllluuh I just tried it in IE and having the same issue so, it might be. But oddly enough, it's just DW having this problem. Everything else loads fine.

Yeah, that points to something being screwed up with your internet provider, alas. You might want to contact them and let them know.

Oddly enough, I can't say I'm all that surprised. The other day, several websites weren't loading properly as it was, so I'm kind of relieved it's just the one this time.

Still! I want to thank you for responding and at least trying to help. One of the many reasons I'm sticking around. ♥

Here's something that's perhaps not specific to my computer, Denise (oh, and I'm not the OP): when I go to save changes on Customization views (custom CSS, or modules, or links list, etc) I'll keep getting (over the last two nights; I'm mostly on at night) Guru Meditation errors followed by an XD number like XD123456789. I can screen cap one if you want, next time one blows by me, but I've gotten these on and off for many months now and honestly, they're driving me nuts. Just a blank white page except for the words "Guru Meditation" in big bold letters up top, followed by the XD number a bit beneath that, then there's something about Varnish (?) servers at the end. I'm always on a slow connection (it makes dial-up seem fast) so I don't know if it's 1) responding to my connection when it gets even slower than usual, 2) some glitch in your servers, nor 3) what the page is meditating on. But I think I want some of whatever it's smoking. :)

PS: Do this code push come from the last code tour or the next one? Just out of curiosity - I'm always excited to see what's getting fixed or added or what-have-you.
