Testing the Fastly CDN
Hi all,
This has now been rolled back. It's not working for some subset of users and that is problematic. We are back to how we were earlier!
I've now rolled out a small change that sends a lot of static traffic through Fastly, an interesting CDN service founded by a guy who I used to work with on LiveJournal. It's a neat service that should give us some really good performance gains -- particularly for users who aren't near our main servers in Dallas.
Edit: If you are using something like NoScript or a similar service that whitelists URLs, you will need to add the following domain:
s.dreamwidth.org.a.prod.fastly.net
Many of you noticed that there was about 15 minutes of broken JavaScript on the site. This showed up as cut tags not expanding, the login form not working, and some other weird behaviors. It's fixed now and was caused by me making a typo in the configuration. Sorry about that.
Please let me know if anything else is broken or not working. Also, if the site seems faster, I'd love to know that too. I'm sure
crucially would be interested to hear our opinions of it. :)

Definitely have refreshed the page and still the same thing.
Edit: Never mind, I'm a moron and the below commenter made me realize I needed to allow it in NoScript.

+ Browse Icon button does not work
+ "Expand" button when clicked functions the same as "Link"
+ All replies do not just pop up underneath the previous comment--it goes to the actual "reply" screen
+ No hover on main menu bar
That's what I've gotten so far.

Shift-refresh and disabling ad-blocker didn't change anything.

Posting interface is wonky
I can't access either the rich text space or the html space. The rich text space doesn't have any menu. I've also tried to edit an entry no dice. Same problem.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by shift-refresh, but if it's refreshing the browser page with STRG+R or STRG+SHIFT+R, it's not working.
When I hit "post", I can fill any line or choose any drop-down menu, but the main text window just shows "Rich text" without any buttons, and no text can be entered. When I click on "HTML", I get the info "javascript:void(0);"

AND! If you ask a question, you actually get an answer -- in polite, friendly language. Go figure. Gotta love these wacky people on Dreamwidth. *giggles*

I took screenshots if you need to see them, just tell me where to send them. Please fix this problem. It's making it very hard to post anything. Thanks~

Zombie subject line and date
February | 29 | 2012 | 16 | 49
). If I don't fix it, I get a bogus "Incorrect time value" error message and lose all the fields I'd entered except the message text. I also get a zombie subject line, corresponding to the post I originally posted at that time. It's too much trouble for me to post here anymore until this gets fixed.
