problems connecting to Dreamwidth

We've seen a handful of people reporting that they're having problems connecting to Dreamwidth. We're trying to narrow down the problem and figure out if it's a problem with the routing on our end or if a major ISP is having routing issues reaching us. (Right now, it's looking like the fault isn't in our network, but there may be steps we can take to fix things if we can identify what's going on.)

If you know someone who's having problems reaching DW, please get them to email support@dreamwidth.org with the results of a traceroute from their computer to dreamwidth.org. That will help us identify where the problems are.

Edit: Strike that! mark found something earlier today that might have explained the problem and fixed it. If you're still getting the problems after this point (6PM EST, 2/13), email us traceroutes then, but most people who were having the problem should notice it's gone away now.

I'm one of those people who couldn't access the site at all, and I can get on the site fine now without need of a proxy or anything. Thanks so much for checking it out and fixing it! I hope everyone else who had the problem is getting on fine now, too. You guys rule. ♥

Now, if someone can work out why I'm getting notified twice for some replies to comments of mine... (I've opened a support ticket for it, 'cause it's weird. Not annoying, just weird.)

Check the full headers of each notification. You may have two accounts subscribed to the same notification type. (For instance, if you imported comments, confirmed your OpenID account's email address to the same email account as your main DW account, and are subscribed to "all replies to my comments" on both accounts, you'll get what looks like identical notifications when someone replies to those comments: one to the OpenID account, and one to your DW account.)

The full headers of each notif will have a line saying which account it was sent to.

Nope. Both notifs say [name] replied to a comment you left in a Dreamwidth entry "Entry title". The comment they replied to was: And each has a different timestamp, one at 20:23 and one at 20:34 - and both were sent to the one account; this example is from a user I'm only subscribed to with my sharpiefan account (which happens to be my main one here).

And the comment [name] posted is the same in each case.

(I usually delete emailed comment notifs after I've checked the comment out on DW; I'm glad I didn't in this case! :D )

No, I don't mean the contents of the notification itself -- I mean the full email headers, which are usually turned off in most mail clients by default. There'll be an "X-Lj-Recipient" header that will tell you which account the notification was sent to.

Ah, got it. And yep, they were sent to the identical place (my LJ was deleted and purged rendering my LJ OpenID null and void - and I hadn't subscribed to anything here on DW with it anyway, because I've always used my full DW account).

As I say, I've opened a support request for it (it's #13587 if that'll help you).

I have had no problems accessing the site, but I can't tell you how much I appreciate the transparency of this site and how quickly and tirelessly you guys work to make things run well for us all. It's nice to have info disseminated in a timely fashion. Kudos, DW.
