Code push shortly.

Hi all,

I'm going to be doing a code push shortly. As always, if you see anything stop working or break, please comment here and we'll get it fixed up. Thank you!

Edit: We had an issue with delayed notifications. They should be moving normally again!

We always try to get major issues fixed as soon as they crop up! I mean, we test before push to try to avoid major issues as much as possible, but the core law of software development is that there is always one more bug that you didn't find, so that's why we schedule code pushes for a time when more than one of our major code contributors and/or staff members can be around: ideally, one (or more!) people to fix the bugs as quickly as possible, and one or more people to tell people as quickly as possible that the bugs are being fixed *g*

But I digress! Thank you, and I'm really glad you're enjoying it here. We do appreciate the hell out of all y'all, so it's good to know we're succeeding in making you feel our love! :)

This is correct behavior if you've previously logged into DW with your OpenID and (when forwarded to the remote site to confirm permission) told that remote site to allow OpenID access to DW always, not just once. (This is part of why we have the email confirmation link built in to the process.)

I tried to follow the instructions on [personal profile] synecdochic's post for claiming openids, but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

1. When I put in "cmshaw.insanejournal.com", I was taken directly to a success page ("Claim Confirmation Sent - Your request has been submitted. Please watch your email for confirmation. You will need to confirm the request by following the directions in the email.") rather than being asked to validate at insanejournal's site as I expected from the instructions.

2. When I put in "cmshaw.livejournal.com", I remained on the same page with the error message "There were errors in your request: no_identity_server: The provided URL doesn't declare its OpenID identity server.".

I haven't received any confirmation email yet, but I only just tried this -- I'll comment here again if any arrive (or don't, within a few hours).

I currently have both cmshaw.insanejournal.com and cmshaw.livejournal.com configured for crossposting (although I usually don't crosspost to either). In this browser I am currently logged into cmshaw.insanejournal.com; I initially tried this not logged into cmshaw.livejournal.com, but I have just logged in there and tried again with the same result.

ETA 1: Okay, I see from the previous comment that the immediate confirmation for insanejournal is expected. Could that be added to the directions?

ETA 2: Come to think of it, this may be a problem with the older style currently applied to my livejournal page -- the problem sounds familiar. I'll look into that!

I am looking forward to being confident enough to announce the OpenID claiming thing more widely, and link it places/put it in the FAQs/etc! (Although I seem to have underestimated how many people read my personal journal; I was thinking I'd just get a few of my regular readers trying it...) It should be very shortly, at least! Been testing out the OpenID claiming, and I have a couple of quick questions.

- My icons seem to be showing up properly in posts, but not in comments, even with the same ones as on LJ. Most of them just show "(default)" in the hovertext, but a couple appear with the default icon and the text of a keyword in the hovertext, except it's missing the last letter. (I had this pop up when I tried to add icons to OpenID accounts to make them match up, too -- it worked okay for the most part if I took off the last letter of the keywords, but not with the full thing/what it said on LJ.) There are non-ASCII symbols in the keywords, if that would affect it.

- Less important and more of a curiosity -- the number of comments listed on the OpenID account and DW account seem to default to the number of comments the DW account had when merged. Is this intentional?
denise: Image: Me, facing away from camera, on top of the Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome (Default)

[staff profile] denise 2012-01-23 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll wait for Mark to look into the keyword problem, but the number of comments on the profile page is going to be inaccurate -- there's no easy way to update that without killing the site (that number comes from a database table that would be super expensive to change).

Also, can you link to a few examples of the icon problem, with the LJ post/comment for reference?

I'm having the same problem [personal profile] larissa mentioned as well. Strangely enough, I claimed on 3 accounts, and while one of the accounts ([personal profile] orphean), the keywords/icons transferred, they didn't on this one or [personal profile] parkour. I'm guessing it's just a bug, but I'd like to be able to fix this, if possible. (My luck is that the keywords would fail on the account I've used the most.)

Hi! I did claim my open ID from my livejournal, but before I had done that I had been taking advantage of being able to use 15 icons on my open ID. Actually, I had moved the icons yesterday. (worst timing ever)

However, now that I've claimed my open ID from livejournal, the icons for my entries swapped over without any issue, but the icons for my comments have all defaulted. Even when I hover over them, they seemed to have lost the data for the icon that I chose.

Was this because I added icons to my open ID account?

This post has lost all keyword data
- http://ican-takeyou.dreamwidth.org/2305.html
-- Which could be because I did a re-import with update keywords selected.

Here is a post in an imported community that transferred my icons in the entry itself, but not in the comments
- http://thestarmaps.dreamwidth.org/100353.html

Here is a post in an imported community that the only icon that has keywords that aren't (default) has the keywords missing 1 letter at the very end.
You can hover on the first reply from my account on the thread. It says the keywords to the icon are: © ; tomorrow is another da -- instead of © ; tomorrow is another day

The keyword problem should be fixed now. You'll need to reimport the journal (or the community) that the posts/comments were in for them to update and properly display, but new imports won't have the problem.

Um, y'all?

Clicking 'random icon' is still posting my comment. Usually with my default icon instead of a random one.

Especially on my own journal, apparently, because it just behaved the way it's supposed to here...

[personal profile] fu and I spent some time last night trying to reproduce this, and we totally couldn't. Can you try clearing your browser cache, then trying again? If it's still happening after that, come back and let us know what browser you're using.

Every time someone mentions a code push, I think of Star Trek:

Don't know if it's related, but it has never happend before. I'm not sure where it's coming from, but I had this message in my inbox:

(You are not authorized to view this entry)

Couldn't find anything about it ... If I was too stupid, apologies!

Thanks,

Marashar

PS: I hope you know it by now, but you are awesome!

That means that you got a notification of the entry, but it was then edited to be not visible to you. The notification object already exists in your inbox, so we can't just remove it, but you can't see the entry anymore, so the text of the notification updates.
