Code update

This is pretty standard by now. We're doing a code update with the latest fixes and features and things from our developers.

I just want to remind everybody (since we have a lot of newcomers!) that this is Closed Beta. That means we expect things to be broken and we're changing things very quickly. We've got a high rate of change, you can expect bumps along the way.

As always, please let me know if you see anything terribly wrong!

I had a couple of glitches with icon imports from IJ. One was my fault, but the other was not.

Three icons didn't import from IJ. I believe this is because IJ allows for larger icon file sizes (more kb not icon size) and these were icons that were too big for LJ.

Editing this comment to add: I also have one icon that shows up blank. I assume that I just need to delete it and reupload.

Should I open a case? What information do you need?

I left a comment in [site community profile] dw_news because I thought that was where that sort of thing was supposed to go, but oh well.  I did scan the results of a "known issues" query at the wiki, and they didn't seem to be listed yet.  Is there somewhere else we should check to see what ppl have already noticed?

Hi! Beautiful place here.:)

I'm pretty sure this is the wrong place to post this, but I searched around and couldn't figure out if there was somewhere better -- the known bugs thing seems more specific to techish talk, and the wiki discuss I just couldn't figure out. Hey, I'm a good beta person because I'm not tech oriented at all (e.g. clueless *g*).

Anyway, I was trying to let you know, in case it's not already known, that my inbox number is reading differently when I'm on my "Reading" page versus on my home page. Strangely, though it says "5" on here, when I click it, it shows my 33 messages, just as my home page indicates I have 33 messages.

This may well be something already known, but I didn't see this issue mentioned. Not a big issue, but thought you'd want to know.

Have you tried just refreshing your reading page?

Ahahaha *facepalm*

I thought I had, twice, but somehow it didn't take: when I came back and specifically refreshed again, you're absolutely right -- now it's showing the correct number.

Sorry!

This is probably just me, but when I try to import my lj entries, it does the first 200 happily then tells me there's a problem with the text encoding and won't import any more. I'm pretty sure I haven't done anything to the text encoding in lj (since I don't know how), so wondered if there was a way round it?

The faq says 100x100 and 100kb file size. but I don't think that's been updated since they imported the LJ faq. I have at least one icon at IJ that LJ says is too big to be uploaded there.

I don't know the direct URL for the icon, but my icon page at IJ is here: http://www.insanejournal.com/allpics.bml?user=leela_cat

and the keyword for the one that doesn't upload is: H/S/D OT3

You got it in one.:)

I think I'd thought I didn't need to refresh the page, which makes me think that maybe on LJ one doesn't... but here, I had to refresh.:)

There seem to be some oddities with the Location section in profiles, specifically the interaction between the country menu and the state menu.

I'm in the UK and have no state set. By default, the state widget is rendered as a menu containing one item ("states/regions/territories"). If I select United States as my country, the state menu is populated with state names. If I then reselect United Kingdom as my country, the state menu changes to a text field, but if I then type anything into that field and submit, DW complains that "You've specified the United States of America as your country, but typed a non-USA state in the "other state" field."

Apologies - I see that this has already been reported as Bug 750.

(everything else looks fine, as far as I can see - kudos to the dev team)

I switched my profile display to Tropospherical Purple and now the entry in the HTML entry editor is in really tiny font. I haven't a clue if they're related, but I thought I'd mention the first.

I don't see anyway to change the font size in my journal style or disply options.

Yup, the two are related. There's a fix already in the works though; it should be live on the site soon.

This isn't terribly wrong as such, but I did notice whilst spell checking a comment that there is no space between the first of the suggested words and the incorrectly spelled one.
