code push over

Code push done! Let us know here if you run into any issues.

(Favorite new behavior: having only the first three entries from newly created feeds show up on your read page :) I thought that had been live for a while, but I was wrong!)

ETA: Briefly broke entries and journal pages for viewers who aren't logged in. Fixed now; if you were running into an error earlier try again..

I don't know if this is an issue per say, but I looked through the code tours to see if it was a bug being fixed, and I couldn't find it:

In the inbox, there is now "Reply | Link | Parent" both above and below the comment - is this a new thing, or am I just really unobservant?

It's new, from a suggestion!

LOL I could have used having only the first 3 entries from a new feed show up - I got truly flooded last week :-)

*G* Yeah, that's been annoying me for God knows how long, and having it fixed for future feed-creations is going to be epic awesome!

Trying to load the inbox, I get an error:

Also, the new method for comment edit notifications is pretty shiny. :)

two bugs in the inbox

[personal profile] kareila 2011-03-29 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
1) top selection/paging bar is gone - at first it was still visible in my "all items" view, but now it's not showing up there either; bottom bar still visible in all views. (tested in Camino and Safari)

ETA: top bar came back when I got the notification for this comment, but when I deleted it and refreshed, it was gone again.

2) "filter to this entry" doesn't catch the edited comment notifications.

2) belongs in Bugzilla, probably, since it's going to require a bunch of changes to the ESN backend -- it isn't just an oversight

1), I have no freakin' idea. :P Hopefully Fu will!

Okay, (2) is in Bugzilla (#3583). It's more of a "would be nice" thing anyway; it's (1) that is driving me crazy right now.

I was coming here to report 1) but I see it already has been. It's... quite confusing (doesn't show up, ever for me, I just get the bottom one).
I've been able to replicate on both Opera (whatever the latest version is, I think 11) and Firefox 4.

It looks like other people are experiencing this (or something similar) as well.

In my Inbox, the top shows two buttons: "Mark All Read" and "Delete All"
I have to scroll down to the bottom to see: "Mark Read", "Mark Unread" and "Delete Selected"

This is happening both in FF 3.6.16 and IE v 7.0.6002.18005. I use Vista. It happens with all of the site schemes I tried: Tropo Red, Grad Vert, Celerity, and Lynx.

I haven't tested it in anything other than Firefox (3.6.16), but this is happening to me as well, and [personal profile] azurelunatic tells me it's a bug.

She & I were trouble-shooting it for a while. What OS are you using? She uses XP and she's not having this problem.

ETA: [personal profile] fu comments above that this was done on purpose.

It's problematic for people like me who get notifications for new posts by people. Three or 4 long posts in my inbox means a long scroll to get to the bottom.

ETA: Also, if I'm just deleting my most recent message, which is usually the case, it's much more labor-intensive.

So at least for visual users, the thing would be the actual length of the page, not the number of items.

I suppose it would work fine for me if the "mark read", "mark unread" and "delete selected" are still on my screen when I am looking at the page even if they are on the bottom.

If we're going to do that, I think the bottom bar needs to be the one to go; I'm always trying to act on the newest items in the inbox, which are at the top.

I don't really buy the clutter argument, though. Major UI elements shouldn't disappear like that with no warning.

I also just noticed that you can have fewer than 10 items on the current "page" and the bar will still show if there are more items on the next "page" which is another inconsistency.

I second that with all my might. Right at the moment, it's very annoying to have to scroll so much, particularly since I used this mainly on my netbook with the tiny screen. 80% of the entries I get there are very long. On the other hand, I personally never need the "mark all" or "delete all" buttons at all.

Yes, but on small screens it still would be annoying if the "mark read", "mark unread" and "delete selected" buttons aren't on the screen, no matter how long or short the page is.
I don't suppose you can make it possible that everybody can choose for himself?
