Code push tonight

EDIT: Rescheduled for later. Tonight is the season premiere of LOST. I don't think I can skip that.

This is a short notice announcement for a code push tonight at 10PM PST (0600 UTC). This is just under 5 hours from now.

Additionally, the payment system (the store, checkout, etc) will also be down for update. The shop will be down longer (up to a few hours) while we work on rolling out support for Google Checkout.

As always, I will update our @dreamwidth Twitter account and this community before I do it.

Google Checkout sounds like a nice option to replace PayPal. This is a good news. :)

Google Checkout? Really? WTF?

AFAIK, you HAVE to create an account in order to use it. I don't know about you, but I really don't want google to have my credit card information!!!!

Since I'm in Germany, that was my only hope to keep my account paid, as the other options are ridiculous. Guess I'll see what I'll do when it comes up for renewal in July.

As much as I appreciate you guys sticking by your principles (seriously, I think you've been awesome through all of this)... I'd really like some other options, to be honest, since Google Checkout apparently doesn't support Maestro and I don't have any other cards. Don't really want to get a credit card just for this, and as [personal profile] franzi1981 said, paying extra and waiting ages for a money order to reach the US doesn't appeal much either.

Which online payment services (if any) can you use (with or without your card)? Disclaimer: I'm not running DWS, and I can't promise that support for any of them will come (or indeed is feasible), but it would help not to tallk in generalities?

Gnnnnnnn! First I have to wait a whole day because of the time difference and because apparently the season premiere is not a reason to get an extra day off from work, then I have to wait yet another day because my girlfriend is not here tonight and I don't want to watch it twice in two days, and then tomorrow I will have to go to all the trouble of making the abc website believe my computer's in the US. Darn thee, International Rights Agreement.

What did the code push do, anyway?

Thank you for extending paid acct time for those of us caught in the gap, and thank you for communicating with us about your decisions and the reasoning behind them (see the discussion below about google checkout, its limitations, and other current/future options). I appreciate it.

I've not seen "Lost", but this is the kind of decision-making that prevents burnout, in the long term, so I'm happy that you made this call.

That said... don't you have a video recording thingie of some sort? If the show's any good, it's best not to schedule one's life around television's schedules.

I've made the sacrifice of not having cable, though, and never got around to getting a converter box to play broadcast TV, because I use Netflix. It's about 1/5th of the price of cable. The major sacrifice is being a season behind on most things, but I'm okay with that.
