Code Update

We will be doing a code update shortly. This is the tracking post where you can watch anything that's going on.

And of course, our Twitter (@dreamwidth) will be updated if there are any troubles.

Oh, this is interesting -- you've turned random bits of my flist text blue!

It's an attractive blue, so I'm prepared to roll with it, but...did y'all just inadvertently disable an a: somewhere?

They've added a:hover, a:active, and a:visited color specifications. Everyone with transmogrified is going to be ... quite surprised.

Indeed!

I wonder if we can anticipate a patch, or if I've got to go in and custom them.

They are now in the wizard, although I've got my calendar in an unusual place and I don't think it's being properly controlled by the wizard, in terms of its coloring. I'm going to fiddle with it some more before I test.

Ah, I think the logged in homepage quick update module may quietly wipe out the current saved draft. (Unless it's a consequence of the code push itself?) That is to say, I had started writing something in the update window before the code push, closed the update window without posting but after I had visually confirmed it saved at least once, then, after reading my dreamwidth went to look at the logged-in homepage, was never asked if I wanted to restore from saved, and when I went to the actual update page (by pushing more options on the homepage) the previously saved text did not come back. :(

Hmmm, I spoke too soon. When I navigated to the update.bml page from a different page, unrelated to the homepage, the saved text came right back up. So, I guess it's just that the home page doesn't grab from wherever autosaved drafts are stored.

Yeah. Right now, there's no JS on the front page to emulate any of the JS on update.bml. (So no drafts, and no tag autocomplete). I'm waiting to see what people say/want. I think the tags autocomplete is safe enough, but the draft could be a problem, because you could be visiting your front page to view other stuff, and be frustrated by a dialog box asking whether you want to restore your saved draft or not. Or it could accidentally override your current draft -- so anyway, I'm waiting to hear reactions, etc.

Why not have a button that says "load draft?" or something similar? This would also integrate well when the multiple drafts thing goes live.

I had customized all my transmogrified colors into sepia type tones, and now several things have changed to blue/purple/orange (subject lines, links, and such). I'm wondering if I should go in and change them back now or wait a while. (I'm stupidly ignorant about this stuff, so be gentle please.)

You should be able to customize your hover/active/visited link colors from the Customize page.

But yay! \o/

colours

[personal profile] susanreads 2009-07-27 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I looked at my reading page and went straight to Customize Style to fix that (except not straight ... can we have a link to the Organize menu on pages that aren't site-schemed please?). It was confusing that a lot of people's names had got paler - your followed link colours are paler than the originals, which is counter-intuitive.

Having changed the colours on all the new wizard elements, I've been able to get rid of all my custom CSS, which is a plus.

Are you still working on the link colours in Tropo? I can see a colour change in hover but I can't tell followed from not.

Also, is the tag cloud on the new homepage meant to be almost-invisibly pale?

Another thing I've noticed: on Transmogrified entry pages that include comments, there's a line of links at the bottom (Previous Entry, Add to Memories etc.), which is apparently not in the wizard. On my journal (and on [personal profile] copracat's, which is differently recoloured), the links are blue (hover blue, active red, visited purple), but I can't see those colours anywhere on my Customise Style page.

Re: colours

[personal profile] zvi 2009-07-27 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they are using the browser's default colours, because I don't think that anchor tags have been colorized in general in Transmogrified, because those links are outside of the module stack, the entries, and the headers.

I wouldn't swear to it, but I think that's what's happening.

Hmmm. I don't seem to be getting comments made in my journal emailed to me--and I've checked my account, and I do have that option enabled. I've checked the trash and spam folders of my email as well.

Me either. I'm using DW's own little inbox to check for comments at the mo ^.^

Hah! And this comment showed up in my email! Go figure.

Very strange. I wonder if it's an issue of comments made in personal journals versus comments made in communities/other people's journals? Or if the situation has just been resolved?

And this one! o.o

I think they must have got it all back online again :) Thank you, DW people! :D

that's a third person reporting that I'm not getting comments in my journal e-mailed to me, although replies to my comments are coming in fine.

Hm, and I'm not getting anything through ESN emailed to me at all (I'm tracking a couple of comment threads, and none of those are coming through, though they're in my Dreamwidth inbox).

ETA: I just got an email! Mysterious! I'm hoping this means that whatever it was is fixed now.

Hmm, I'm getting replies to comments emailed to me as well, and I think that never stopped.

But earlier, I wasn't getting email comment notifications for threads I was tracking; just now I just got two(!), which seems to be a sign that something was fixed. Hopefully whatever just changed also means your issue with comment notifications in your journal just got fixed.

(I can go comment on your journal to test, if you'd like)

I've noticed on the new front page that the birthday's section isn't complete. I know there are birthdays for friends on the 30th and 31st (have the notices in my inbox) but the birthday's section starts on Aug 1st. Is that intentional?

The site seems to move the birthdays upcoming in the next couple of days to the end of the list, as though they had already passed - for example, birthdays.bml.

I think this probably counts as a bug. I can try to file it when I get home.

Quick qu following the code push

[personal profile] boji 2009-07-30 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello,

I've customized Tabula Rasa and in the Custom CSS window had specified both container and content width with %.

I was off line for a few days and came back to find all the entry text had veered so far left it could be read - or scrolled to. I've fixed this - by amending the container and content width %'s the later down to 75% - but am wondering why my original 90% over ride suddenly had my entries left pushed off the page.

How easy would it be to link to the relevant [community profile] changelog_digest entries each code push, so we can see what goes live each time you push, like [livejournal.com profile] lj_releases do? I know that before a push you can see it on the code status page, but I usually don't notice until after because of timezones.
