Oh God, spam. Twitter algorithmically and automatically removes over a million spam accounts a day. We're tiny, comparatively, and we still get entire networks of people trying to come make search-engine-optimization link-to-your-scammy-blog accounts! I've seen estimates that up to 90% of internet traffic is spam of some kind and I absolutely believe it.
