We don't allow people to import from file (because it means they could edit other people's comments) but LJ does let you export month by month as xml. Don't give up on the importer yet, though! We are keeping it going as much as we can, and even if it takes people a few tries to get it at a time when our import workers aren't blocked, many are succeeding.
