Yeah, that's totally one of the major reasons why we've never taken venture capital funding -- it would have meant giving up some control over how the site was run. We're happy to be the small, laid-back, user-funded site that has fewer users who are really pleased by how we roll than chase pageviews and new-user signups, you know? I'm content with never making startup millions if it means being able to offer a comfortable home for people who really need it. (And I'm a lot happier with the fact that I can work from home, set my own hours, and only wear pants when I have to...)
