code update

We just did a rather large code update, with something like 50 separate commits... that's a lot. This should fix a lot of issues we've been seeing.

That's a relic of when we branched from LJ's code -- they introduced the "search by email address" after we branched, but the setting was implemented before we branched. When we go through and finish cleaning up all the settings that are only accessible through that page, we'll yank that one.

The "LJ new comments" Greasemonkey script is, if possible, even more awesome than nc=, and it's been updated to work with DW as well as LJ.
