Code push coming shortly

Hi all!

Edit: This is done, the code has been pushed!

In the next few minutes, we'll be doing a code push on Dreamwidth. You can expect a bit of a rocky experience tonight, since we will be not only deploying new code, but also doubling our caches -- which means that the site will slow down for a while, then will get faster than it was!

If you see any problems, please comment here and let us know. We have all hands on deck to make sure everything goes smoothly.

(PS, special shout out to [staff profile] denise, [personal profile] fu, [personal profile] exor674, and [personal profile] geekosaur who are in IRC helping out or keeping company while this happens. You folks are awesome!)

Don't know if it's a weird bug with the code push, but suddenly I can't see userpics in the comments. I can see icons of the OP (like your's), but I get a great big gray nothing next to usernames in the comments.

Can you try clearing your browser cache and reloading the page, and let me know if that helps?

- No, I can see the icons in the comment pages of my personal journal just fine, which has entry/comment pages in my style rather than one of the DW defaults. (I finally got a lightbulb to go check there after I commented here - sorry late night brain)

I would say it occurs randomly.

Yeah, I've had it turned on since right around the last push, but I could still see unserpics until this code push.

Just turned it off and now I can see the icons.

weiiiiiiiiird. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, with beta features on *or* off.

I'm guessing it might be some IE-specific thing, so I'll try to get somebody to test.

It honestly didn't occur to me, that it might be a problem with the Beta as I hadn't had any problem before tonight.

Like you said, weird, but at least I can see the icons again.

If you turn the beta back on, do you have the same problem in other browsers? (We're, uh, having some difficulty finding somebody who's got IE8 installed to test with, so the confirmation that it's an IE-specific problem would help.)

I don't have any other browsers installed on this computer, and the only other person in the house with a non - IE browser is spending the night at a friends house and locked his computer before he left.

No, I'm not on any beta. I'm not even logged in when I noticed it.

Btw, you can sort of trigger it if you go my this account and keep refreshing the comment page. At least that's how I replicated it. :) Not logged in, of course.

I just checked IE8. I can see icons on this comment page just fine when logged out. Logged in, with the beta turned on, I can't see icons--I also get a grey space.

Okay, found somebody who had IE8 installed, and we managed to narrow it down to something that's only happening in IE8, with the S2 comment page beta enabled, and only when you're logged in.

I've opened a bug to have somebody take a look at it and see if they can fix it, but I do have to warn you that IE8 is outside our standard browser support policy (we technically only support IE9 and higher), so there's a possibility that we won't be able to fix it if the fix is too involved. This isn't to say that we won't try, but if there's any way you can upgrade your browser, you may want to do so!

Thank you for the confirmation! We've narrowed it down to something in IE8's rendering engine, since it only happens in IE8 + S2 comment page enabled + user logged in. So, we've got a bug open for somebody to take a look at it!

Found the problem! The OpenID modules weren't installed on the two new webservers, so if your request was routed to one of them by our load balancer, the OpenID options weren't showing up. We fixed it (and by 'we', I once again mean 'Mark'), so you should be good to go now.
