http://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=86 has details! Basically, you go to https://www.dreamwidth.org/tools/importer and enter your username/password for the site you want to import from. Then pick what you want to import. From there, you can wander off, and eventually your entries/comments/etc will appear in your DW account like magic!

We right now support importing from LiveJournal and InsaneJournal, and hope to be able to support other sites like Wordpress, Typepad, Movable Type, etc, in the future.
