If you believe that LiveJournal does not have constant programmers, then I would direct you to changelog and take a look at the people who are programming and committing there. It is the same names much of the time, and they work very hard. andy in particular is on vacation right now, but he started as a support person years ago and has now been hired as a developer, and I respect him deeply. He has submitted at least one patch to Dreamwidth directly.
