Tonight, we are upgrading one of our two webservers. This means:

* The site may be slow to load, since we're running on a single webserver until we finish our testing.

* Once we upgrade the webserver, we are going to swap the two webservers in the pool so that all requests go to the new, upgraded server, to verify the new functionality.

This upgrade will allow us to run a newer version of one of the modules we use, which will in turn fix a bug with our content importer. I'll update this entry once Mark has finished the work.

EDIT, 0353 EDT: We are now serving from the upgraded server. The site may still be slow in places while we verify functionality.

I'm continuing with the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (hardy) to 8.10 (intrepid) upgrades today. I will be doing the servers that will cause brief blips of downtime as they reboot with the updated software.

Where possible I will put up a downtime page, but you can expect to get no response from the servers at all when I reboot the load balancer machine. This should all be done by 2000 GMT.

Update: This is all done, let me know if you see any problems!
