### The importer has (mostly) caught up!

Our content importer has mostly caught up with its backlog; almost everything that's still listed as being "in the queue" are jobs that were tried, failed once or more with a temporary failure, and are waiting to try again. (The importer tries a few times, at successively longer intervals, when it gets a failure it thinks might be temporary/might correct itself later on.) This means that new imports scheduled now should complete in hours (or even minutes), not the "several days" it's been taking.

If you tried to schedule a second import while the first one was still running, at any time in the past 10 days or so, you may have confused the poor thing. If you think your import should be finished by now and it isn't, and you're seeing "Aborted" on the Importer Status part of the Importer page, feel free to open a support request in the Importer category and we'll look into it for you. (It may take a little bit before you get a response; those of us who have the access to look into importer problems have been really busy for the past two weeks or so, and I at least need a few days to catch my breath a bit before diving back into the fray! But we'll do what we can.)

I hope all y'all are continuing to settle in well to your new home!

Thank you!

What a good little importer, well done you! *pets it*

Like Zeb Hogan pets catfish in his NatGeo catch and release fishing show. (Really, he did!)

Oh! Yep, very well done, no joke there at all!

Even during the LJ exodus the importer managed to move over a community of mine with over 90k comments in about two days, so it's not like I could complain :p

#### no subject

Excellent! That's much faster than I was expecting; well done!

Thank you for the welcome :)

Both my imports were successful, thank you!

#### no subject

Thanks for continually making us glad we joined you. We appreciate both the friendliness and the information.

#### no subject

I hope nobody was stupid enough to complain! I've imported my journal and a small community, and apart from the time it's been a completely painless process.

#### no subject

Just want to say that i've found my experience so far migrating, using the importer, etc, to be entirely painless, not least because i've had to spend zero time looking for information i might want about how to migrate things. Many thanks for running a great service, and for jumping in to provide so much useful information to newly active users.

I had 15 years of entries, it's still retrying some of mine. But I'm mostly moved :)

#### no subject

actually, I'm curious, my importer is still technically running. I think it's retrying entries. But the number keeps going up and down. Is there something I can do to fix/finish this?

Ours failed, but that's because we realized too late that not everything would move, so we tried again...and borked it in the process. Whoops. xd

We plan to try again later, but not now-too close to school trips.

Hi, Denise

Sorry for offtop :)

Could you investigate the causes of some non-showed images in crossposted articles? Like this pages: orig http://xaxam.livejournal.com/879592.html and https://xaxam.dreamwidth.org/873761.html .

As you see, image
https://p.dreamwidth.org/a1ea15decdb8/1856640-873761/www.codecogs.com/eq.latex?y\in\mathbb%20Q
does not show on the dreamwidth. But some other images like
https://p.dreamwidth.org/29970b25968b/1856640-873761/www.codecogs.com/eq.latex?a=\frac{f(x)-f(0)}{x}
shows good. (clear www.codecogs.com/eq.latex?y\in\mathbb%20Q also works good)

Thank you for reporting this! I think it might be a bug in our https image proxy relating to spaces in URLs. When you see "p.dreamwidth.org" links, that's because we support https, but browsers will not display plain http images on an https page. For this particular one, if you can link to https://latex.codecogs.com/gif.latex?y\in\mathbb%20Q instead, that should avoid the need to run the image through the proxy in the first place.

Thank you so much for keeping us in the know, and the transparency!

Wow, has there been that huge an influx from LJ recently? Good job for keeping on top of it, guys!

I know I came over when I stumbled on a news article about the new LJ T&C's and it mentioned DW. I had been meaning to have a massive clear out of my LJ (remove things like quizes and dead photos etc) and possibly close it down, but instead I moved over here, am taking my time to clean up and will likely stay :)

<3 to all!

My only problem was putting in the wrong password 3 times *stupid human brain* On your end it was wonderfully smooth and brought all 15 or so years and their comments beautifully!

I didn't mind it taking a few days, gave me a chance to play with my journal style and think about what I wanted to do with my imported entries like ridding all the quiz's I did over the years, and the very strange one line posts I made for who knows what reason! The late teen years, can anyone explain them?!

#### no subject

My journal took more than two days to move, so I was genuinely impressed that my LJ communities and fic meme archives imported in less than 10 minutes each a couple of days ago XD

*pets the importer and offers it healthy organic treats*

Thank you thank you thank you!

#### no subject

Thank you for doing what you do! Both my imports worked fine, and I feel much more welcome here already. My blog style is prettier, too.

#### no subject

I know I gave it a challenge with pulling over one of the rant communities and it's ~7800 entries.

(IIRC, it's still slogging through, with ~200 some entries left to either pull across, or hard fail on.)

Yay!!!

#### no subject

Yay! Now I can nag my mom into importing her stuff, and poke my friend. And probably my kid and spouse, come to think...

#### no subject

Who's the good little importer? Yes, you are! *gives treats*

Thanks for the update and wow those stats. <3 Am really glad I moved over to DW all those years ago!
