Crossposting to LiveJournal continues to be hit-or-miss: if LiveJournal is having technical difficulties or connection problems at the time you try to crosspost, the crosspost will fail and you'll get a long and messy error in your DW inbox.

(To complicate things, sometimes the crosspost attempt will actually succeed, but LJ will report a failure anyway. You should double-check to see if the post actually did crosspost anyway if you get an error.)

Posts will attempt to crosspost several times before failing permanently. Once you get the notification of the permanent failure, you can try to crosspost again by editing the entry and checking the crosspost checkbox.

Also, a very happy new year (Gregorian) from us all to you!

Thanks for the update. LJ is a train wreck at the moment (at least it is for me), with every page timing out or getting bogged down during ads.pubmatic loading.

Happy New Year to you all!

It's the same for myself. The Website is not responding at all. I keep getting a 404 Error type message that only gives me the suggestion of reloading the page. It was working a couple hours around the midnight hour, but now its down completely. It's either another spambot attack or they've shutdown the whole site to complete the revamping they announced in releases #99 and #100 (I'm betting its the first and not the latter).

Happy New Year to everyone here as well :D

Thanks for the update ♥

LJ is, as stated above, an embarrassing trainwreck yet again, and I'm increasingly glad I've managed to import almost everything from over there. Their latest breakdown actually interupted the last import.

Happy New Year!

Ah, that explains the fail message I got but it crossposted anyway. Yeah, LJ is just such a mess right now. *sigh*

And a very Happy New Year to you and yours, and to everyone at Dreamwidth.

It looks like they're having some trouble with spambots-- I imagine that's not helping with the connection problems. Though I did get some "sound" financial advice from two separate spambots. Hopefully whatever's ailing LJ will be resolved soon. Thanks for letting us what's going on over on this end!

And have a wonderful new year, DW team!

Yet somehow the spambots seem as cozy on LJ as ever. I remain thankful that DW has somehow* managed to remain free of the things!

It's been loading fine for me too... but I do nothing there anymore except read the few people who still post there instead of here, so if anything else is broken, of course I wouldn't know about it. ;)

What the hell is going on with LJ? It's been having a meltdown for well over a week. It either doesn't load at all or loads a varnish error. But I get notifs, so I know stuff is still being posted, so not everyone is experiencing a problem.

I know there's been spambot attacks like crazy over the last few days, but is that seriously the only issue?! Ugh. THANK GOD FOR DREAMWIDTH TBH

Happy New Year, everyone. :')

IJ's been up and down the better part of a month due to spambots, to the point that Squeaky re-instituted invite codes to fend them off. I know there's a considerable difference in scale between the two sites, but I think that only explains why LJ was accessible at all.

This is a good site, because it relies on reports from users as well as other methods & is far faster at reporting problems than the official LJ status page. Usually within a few minutes of widespread failure, this site will show it.

If your crossposts repeatedly fail, you can check here and see if you're the only one having a problem, in which case it's worth trying to figure out a solution on your end, or if it's system wide problem and patience is your only resort.

Thanks for this.

LJ is pretty much deadjournal for many of us atm- I've had no real connectivity for the past 24 hours and it's been patchy for days (UK based).

'Downrightnow' suggests that something is rotten in the state of LJ (or should that be deadjournal) :o(

I'm thanking everyone on this page right now, because after going to various 'downornot' websites in the last 24 hours and being cheerily told it was 'just me!', I was ready to message my ISP (I'm in Malta, which makes it very likely that it's 'just me').

I managed to have a look at the support page of lj using an anonymizer (why?) and was amusing myself translating all the Russian support requests (using Google translate), most of which are "I can't log on!" To send my own support request, I had to send an email. To which I got an automated reply, that I could follow the progress of my request on livejournal.

Is there a facepalm emoticon I could use? Which part of "I can't access LJ at all" was unclear?

Oh well. A Happy New Year to all!

After how many attempts and/or what timeout does the crossposting fail permanently?

I wish my LJ friends would just move over here! At the most, they just use this as backup, and then grumble when LJ is down - except for the one who feels the same as me.
