Hi all!

Edit: This is done, the code has been pushed!

In the next few minutes, we'll be doing a code push on Dreamwidth. You can expect a bit of a rocky experience tonight, since we will be not only deploying new code, but also doubling our caches -- which means that the site will slow down for a while, then will get faster than it was!

If you see any problems, please comment here and let us know. We have all hands on deck to make sure everything goes smoothly.

(PS, special shout out to [staff profile] denise, [staff profile] fu, [personal profile] exor674, and [personal profile] geekosaur who are in IRC helping out or keeping company while this happens. You folks are awesome!)

Don't know if it's a weird bug with the code push, but suddenly I can't see userpics in the comments. I can see icons of the OP (like your's), but I get a great big gray nothing next to usernames in the comments.

Can you try clearing your browser cache and reloading the page, and let me know if that helps?

Nope. Still have nothing but gray in place of the icons.

Needs to refresh page to get OpenID to appear.

Okay, that is officially weird. Is it happening on all entry pages or just in particular journals? (And if so, link me to a journal it's happening to you on?)

I would say it occurs randomly.

Noticed it first on my this account, then noticed it again on branchandroot's.

Hello,

Maybe I'm just not seeing this, but is there a way to upload an image from my hard drive in a post? In Chrome 23, the edit/insert image popup doesn't always work cleanly (it's like it loads halfway and is unusable), and if it does, it doesn't include the tab to upload an image. In Firefox 17 (which I only use as a backup these days for testing in purposes just like this), the popup does come through nicely, but the tab to upload is still missing. There's image info and link, but no upload. I'm running Windows 7.

Thanks in advance.

Right now, there's no way to automatically insert an image from your hard drive, no -- you need to either have it uploaded elsewhere on the internet, or use the emailed-in photo hosting.

The "insert image" button you're talking about is in the rich text editor (and is designed to allow you to link an image that's hosted elsewhere on the internet), and the rich text editor is, unfortunately, very old and very badly behaved -- many modern browsers are starting to have trouble with it. We're in the process of finding a new one!

I'm not reproducing that; the most likely cause is that there's invalid HTML in one of your most recent inbox notices, such as an improperly closed </div> tag, that's messing up the rendering of the page!

My default icon no longer loads, again. It wasn't working (and even clearing browser cache and cookies only fixed it for an hour), then it came back a few days ago, then yesterday it quit again. I'm using Firefox, and I do not have beta test turned on.

Not an official-type person here, but I've seen icons do this sort of thing on more than one occasion (not always with the default icon). I think it's just sort of... a thing that happens, although I could be wrong.

Yeah, we're really not sure what's causing that to happen for some people. You might be able to make it come back by visiting the icon URL directly (ie, going to http://www.dreamwidth.org/userpic/3164776/1158959 ) and forcing it into your browser cache. I'm sorry about the hassle!

Hi! I think there's something wrong when you modify someone's access and your subscription to a particular journal. The option to "modify" or "cancel" disappears when I try to unsubscribe/revoke access. I think the screencaps could. . . explain the situation better, sorry XD;

with access + subscription
when I try to uncheck the boxes

About the time you guys did the code push was the last time I got any notif from this site in my email. I went through my settings and I'm still set to get emails for posts, somewhere between there and Gmail there's a kink though.

Even though others I know on gmail are getting their notifs.

((Wasn't sure where to post this))

Can you check your spam folder? Gmail is very prone to filtering mail from us into spam. There's currently no failures in the logs that would indicate notification email isn't being sent out, which means the problem is at some point after the email leaves our servers.

Don't know if this is related to any of the code push or not, but I tried to import icons from LJ to DW and it will only import 15 even though I have a paid account on both sites. I have 64 on LJ and 100 slots here.

I did just upgrade my LJ account so I could import my icons (yes I'm lazy) but I'd hate to have wasted $7 and have to manually upload them all anyway.

If you just upgraded your LJ account and reactivated your icons over there, it will probably take some time (likely upwards of a day or two) for the data feed we use to import icons to recognize that they've been reactivated; that feed on the LJ end is very slow to reflect changes.
